Recap: Boyd, C. Song Win SC One-Day Series @ Spring Valley CC

On Saturday, August 19, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the South Carolina One-Day Open Series at Spring Valley CC. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series was Erica Boyd (Charlotte, NC 2020), after winning a scorecard playoff over Emily Song (Charlotte, NC 2019) Both players with a final score of 81 on the day. Just 4 strokes behind them was Jordan Guyton (Columbia, SC 2019), taking 3rd place. Tanking 4th place was Madelyn Richards (Blythewood, SC 2018).

In the Futures Series, was Cindy Song (Waxhaw, NC 2023) after a playoff against Abby Franks (Roebuck, SC 2023). Both ladies shot the low round of the day, 75. Finishing in 3rd place, with a score of 88 was Jessica Edwards (Moore, SC 2020). Mirabella Calabrase (Cornelius, NC 2019) shot an 90, finishing the day in 4th place.

Preview: SC One-Day Series @ Spring Valley CC

Jordan is currently ranked T13 in the Prep Order of Merit – SE, and has two 1st place finishes in the SC One-Day Series Events. Song is currently ranked 16th in the Prep Order of Merit – SE, and tied for runner-up at the NC One-Day Series at Pine Island CC. Both players look to continue their success this weekend at Spring Valley CC.

Featured in the Futures Series are Chloe Pittman (Davidson, NC 2020), Amber Capote (Waxhaw, NC 2020), and Cindy Song (Waxhaw, NC 2023). Pittman is currently ranked 35th in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and finished top-10 in her last one-day event at Mill Creek GC. Amber is currently ranked 6th in the Futures Order of Merit – SC and finished T2 in her last SC One-Day Series appearance at The Carolina CC. Song is currently ranked 18th in the Futures Order of Merit – SC and has finished in 1st place in her last two One-Day Series Events in North and South Carolina. They look to continue their success this weekend at Spring Valley CC.

Awards will be presented to the top-4 finishers in the Prep and Futures Series. We look forward to a great event!

Recap: Holcomb,Mathews, Song Win NC One-Day Series at Mill Creek GC

On Friday, August 11, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina One-Day Series at Mill Creek GCThe goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 29 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series by 2 shots was Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021) after posting a score of 83 for the day. In a tie for second place with a score of 85 was Carson Jenkins (Raleigh, NC 2019) and Cameron Wood (Waxhaw, NC 2017). In Fourth place with a score of 87 was Evin Flinchum (Summerfield, NC 2018).

The Champion of the Futures Series was Emily Mathews (Mebane, NC 2023) after firing a round of 80. Only 3 strokes behind, finishing in second was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a score of 83. Finishing in a tie for third place was Elizabeth Tart (Holly Springs, NC 2019) and Megan Morris (Cary, NC 2021) both with a score of 85.

The Champion of the Discovery Series was Gracie Song(Monroe, NC 2026), with a nine hole score of 39. Discovery Series runner-up was Madison Dial (High Point, NC 2025), finishing the day at nine hole score of 48.

We would also like to recognize that two of our Futures players, Elizabeth Tart (Holly Springs, NC 2019) and Chloe Pittman (Davidson, NC 2020)  made an eagle on the 2nd hole Par 5 today.  Way to go ladies!

Preview: NC One-Day Series @ Mill Creek GC

The Prep Series field features Halynn Lee (Cary, NC 2021), Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021), and Mackensi Hall (Graham, NC 2018). Lee is coming into the tournament after placing T5 at the 2017 Tour Championship at Salem Glen CC this past weekend. Holcomb also had a good performance at the 2017 Tour Championship at Salem Glen CC, placing top-10 after three rounds of play. Hall is currently ranked T82 in the Prep Order of Merit – NC and is coming off of a 2nd place finish at the NC One-Day Series at Bermuda Run CC (West). They look to continue their success this weekend at Mill Creek GC.

Featured in Futures Series field is Laney Wessels (Sophia, NC 2021), Chloe Crane (Greensboro, NC 2020), and Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023). Wessels is currently ranked 11th in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has placed top-10 in four of her last five PKB tournaments. Crane is currently ranked 4th in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has placed top-10 her last four NC One-Day Series appearances. Pate is currently ranked 1st in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has finished top-10 in her last five PKB tournaments. They look to continue their success this weekend at Mill Creek GC.

Featured in the 3-player Discovery Series are Madison Dial (High Point, NC 2025) and Brooke Tyler (Summerfield, NC 2024). Dial is currently ranked 1st in the Discovery Order of Merit – NC and has finished in 1st place at her last two NC One-Day Series appearances. Tyler is currently ranked 3rd in the Discovery Order of Merit – NC and placed 1st at the NC One-Day Series at MacGregor Downs CC.

The One-Day Open Series at Mill Creek GC brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. It should be a great event!

Recap: Sambach, Atwood Win 2017 TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP @ Salem Glen CC

On Sunday, August 6, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Salem Glen CC in Clemmons, NC.  This event wraps up the 2017 PKBGT Championship season.

Winning the Bell Series with a commanding score of 220 was Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) with rounds of 73-73-74. Sambach made back-to-back birdies on the finishing holes on Sunday to pull ahead by one stroke to win the Championship. Finishing in second place with rounds of 73-69-79-221 was Sasha Hayes (Winston Salem, NC 2020).  One shot back in third was Skylar Sload (Ashburn, VA 2018) with scores of 77-72-73-222. Placing in fourth was Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) with scores of 80-71-73-224. In fifth place with scores of 72-76-79-227 was Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018).

The Champion of the Futures Series was Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) with a three day score of 79-70-72-221. Atwood made three birdies on the day to off set three bogeys and remain at level par for the final day.  Finishing in second place was Emma Chen (Derwood, MD 2022) with scores of 71-79-80-230. Finishing in third place was Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021) with a three day total of 76-81-75-232. Placing in fourth place was Morgan Ketchum (Winston-Salem, NC 2022) with scores of 78-82-75-235. Finishing in a tie for fifth place was Halynn Lee (Cary, NC 2021) and Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) bith with a three day total of 236.

The TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2017 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. Winning the 2017 Bell Series Order of Merit was our Champion this weekend Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021). Sambach won 3 her last three starts in the PKBGT Majors with wins at MASTERS, PRECISION Jr. Girls, and TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP. Amanda is also the first PKBGT Player in the tour’s history to win all three Order of Merit Races back-to-back-to-back years. Winning the 2017 Futures Series Order of Merit is also our champion this weekend, Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022). Atwood had 7 either top or runner-up finishes this season with four wins this season. Congratulations to both Ladies on their wonderful accomplishments this season.

Recap: Hankim, Chen, and E. Wang Win MA One-Day Series at Hobbit’s Glen GC

On Saturday, August 5, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Hobbit’s Glen GC. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament featured a field of 35 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Winning the Prep Series was Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021). Hankim finished the day with a score of 5 over par, 77. Finishing in second place was Faith McIlvain (Ellicott City, MD 2020) with a score of 83. Coming in third place was Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020, with a score of 86.

Winning the Futures Series was Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) finishing the day at 2 over par, 74. Runner-up was Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022), just one stroke behind the leader, shooting 75. Finishing in third place Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) with a score of 77. Finishing in fourth place was AnPhi Le (Fredrick, MD 2022) with a score of 80.

Winning the Discovery Series was Emily Wang (Mclean, VA 2024) with her impressive score of one under par, 35. The Runner-up of the Discovery Series was Makayla Grubb (Stafford, VA 2025) who was 4 shots back with a score of 39.

Congratulations to all the top finishers this weekend! The PKBGT is back in action August 26, 2017 for the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series @ The Hollows GC. There is still time to register!

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host events in Virginia and Maryland.  The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery.  On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops.  The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers.  Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.

Hannah is currently ranked T17 in the Prep MA One-Day Series Order of Merit and finished runner-up at the Commonwealth Classic at Hidden Creek CC. They look to continue their success this weekend at the MA One-Day Series at Hobbits Glen GC.

Featured in the Futures Series D’yan Robinson (Richmond, VA 2022), Shaina Beach (Broadway, VA 2019), and Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022).  D’yan is currently ranked 7th on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished top-10 at her last two MA One-Day Series events.  Shaina is currently ranked 25th on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished T4th place at her first MA One-Day Series event at Belmont GC.  Sue is currently ranked 1st on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished 1st place at the MA One-Day Series at Belmont GC. They look to continue their success this weekend at the MA One-Day Series at Hobbits Glen GC.

The Champion of the Prep Series by 1 shot was Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020) after posting a score of 78 for the day. Following in second place with a score of 79 was Mackensi Hall (Graham, NC 2018). In third place with a score of 80 was Nicole Kramer (Charlottle, NC 2018). Rounding out our top four in a two-way tie was Emilee Wenmoth (Clemmons, NC 2017) and Michaela Cox (Greensboro, NC 2017) both with a score of 82.

The Champion of the Futures Series was Lauren Denhard (Salisbury, NC 2019) after firing a  6 over par, 77. Only 1 stroke behind, finishing in second was Morgan Ketchum (Winston-Salem, NC 2022) with a score of 78. Finishing in third place was Hannah Lindemann (Charlotte, NC 2021) with a score of 84. In fourth place was Makena Witt (Salem, VA 2019) with a score of 85.

Recap: Fieldings, Lee, Wang Win MA One-Day Series at Belmont Golf Course

On Saturday, July 29, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Belmont Golf Course. One-day tournaments are University of Maryland GCdesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament featured a field of 23 players and included the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Winning the Prep Series was Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023). Paris finished the day with a score of six over par, 77. Finishing in second place was Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021) with a score of 82. Coming in third place was Brooke Burnette (Suffolk, VA 2018), with a score of 88. Finishing in fourth place was Annabelle Jennings (Chesapeake, VA 2020) with a score of 89.

Winning the Futures Series was Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) finishing the day at three over par, 74. Runner-up was Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022), just one stroke behind the leader, shooting 75. Finishing in third place Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) with a score of 79. Finishing in fourth place was Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) with a score of 82.

Winning the Discovery Series was Emily Wang (McLean, VA 2024) with her impressive score of three over par, 39. Only 2 shots back was Madison Lehr (Mechanicsville, VA 2024) with a score of 41.

Preview: TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Salem Glen Golf Club

On Friday-Sunday, August 4-6, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Tour Championship at Salem Glen Golf Club in Clemmons, NC. Salem Glen Golf Club was the host of the PKBGT Masters from 2011-2014, and is in great shape for the eighth major tournament of the 2017 season.  The event features a field of 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Bell Division field features 22 golfers, highlighted by 8 of the top-35 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) ranked 1st, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) ranked 13th, Anna McDonald (Hickory, NC 2019) ranked 15th, Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 18th, Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019) ranked 23rd, Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC 2020) ranked 24th, Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) ranked 28th, and Skylar Sload (Ashburn, VA 2018) ranked 34th.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
