Update: Round 1 PKBGT Invitational at Bermuda Run CC

The temperatures were low, but the sun was shining as the tour’s top players took on the first round of the 2019 PKBGT Invitational at Bermuda Run Country Club. Player’s competed on the club’s West course in Saturday’s round.

This year’s Invitational features its highest ranked field yet, with 75% of the field ranking inside the top 1,000 on Junior Golf Scoreboard. Even more notable, 31 of these players rank inside the top 500 – a difficult feat to obtain.

Following the first day of competition, four players finished their round under par. Cindy Song (Waxhaw, NC 2023) leads the field at her PKB Invitational debut with a round one score of 3-under par, 69. Song had 4 birdies on the day, including one on her first hole of the tournament!

Just one stroke off the lead is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021), 2017 PKB Invitational Champion, with a score of 2-under par, 70. Sambach started her round out strong with 3 birdies on the front nine.

Ffion Tynan (Tonyrefail, UK 2020) and Rebecca Skoler (Needham, MA 2020) are currently tied for third place and finished the day at 1-under par, 71. Both players capitalized on the front nine with multiple birdies between the two of them.

Rounding out the top-5 are Kara Carter (Kingsport, TN 2021) and Emily Mathews (Mebane, NC 2023) finishing the day at even par, 72.

Play shifts to the East Course tomorrow morning and the field is still wide open. We look forward to a competitive second round on Sunday morning! Be sure to follow the action with live scoring at the link below!
