PKBGT Precision Jr. Girls Championships Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20 at the PKBGT PGS JR GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS @ Bryan Park GC (Champions/Players). This is the 10th annual junior golf tournament that Precision Golf School has hosted. PGS has been a renowned golf school in Carolinas for over 23 years. Bryan Park GC (Champions/Players) are challenging courses for this two day event. The event features a field of 62 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 41 players highlighted by five of the top 10 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) in 3rd position and Hannah Craver (Winston-Salem, NC 2013) in 8th position. Four event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT PGS GIRLS’ JR CHAMPIONSHIP, including: Carolina’s Classic @ Carolina Trace CC winner and 5th position on the Order of Merit list, Emily Brooks (Chapel Hill, NC 2012), PKB Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles winner and in 7th position on the Order of Merit list, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017), One-Day Open Series @ Bermuda Run CC (West) and One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC winner and 9th position on the Order of Merit list, Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013), and One-Day Open Series @ CC of Petersburg winner and 27th position on the Order of Merit list, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) Also, Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018), winner of the Futures Division PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP @ CC of Salisbury will be playing her first tournament as a Bell Division player.

The Futures Division field features 21 players highlighted by fourof the top 10 players of the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 6th position, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) in 7th position, and Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) in 10th position. Two event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT PGS GIRLS’ JR CHAMPIONSHIP, including: One-Day Open Series @ Bermuda Run CC (West) winner and 8th position on the Order of Merit list, Megan Cullip (Charlotte, NC 2015), and Bash at the Bay @ Kingsmill Resort (River/Woods) and One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC winner and 15th on the Order of Merit list, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019).

The PKBGT PGS GIRLS’ JR CHAMPIONSHIP is the third major of the year, bringing together the top players from the East coast. It should be an exciting & challenging event. Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
