Tour Championship Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16 at the PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP @ Ocean Ridge Plantation (Lion’s Paw Golf Links). Ocean Ridge Plantation (Lion’s Paw Golf Links) is a challenging course for this two-day event. The event features a field of 64 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 39 players highlighted by three of the top 10 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) in 2nd position on the Order of Merit list, PKB Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles winner and in 6th position on the Order of Merit list, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017), and One-Day Open Series @ Bermuda Run CC (West) and One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC winner and in 8th position on the Order of Merit list, Ashlii Thompson (Brown Summit, NC 2013). Nine event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, including: One-Day Open Series @ CC of Petersburg and PKBGT PGS JR. GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Bryan Park GC (Champions/Players) winner and in 11th position on the Order of Merit list, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Bash at the Bay @ Kingsmill Resort (River/Woods) winner and in 40th position on the Order of Merit list, Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015), One-Day Open Series @ Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson) winner and in 43rd position on the Order of Merit list, Abbey Hartsell (Hickory, NC 2015), One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC winner and in 79th position on the Order of Merit list, Savanna Wood (Boone, NC 2014), and One-Day Open Series @ Salem Glen Golf & CC winner and in 32nd position on the Order of Merit list, Sarah Bertram (Concord, NC 2013).

The Futures Division field features 25 players highlighted by four of the top 10 players of the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: PKBGT PGS JR. GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Bryan Park GC (Champions/Players) winner and in 4th position on the Order of Merit list, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018), Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC winner and 5th position on the Order of Merit list, Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018), One-Day Open Series @ Bermuda Run CC (West) winner and 8th position on the Order of Merit list, Megan Cullip (Charlotte, NC 2015), and Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland GC winner and 10th position on the Order of Merit list, Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015). Seven event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, including: Bash at the Bay @ Kingsmill Resort (River/Woods) and One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC winner and 11th on the Order of Merit list, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) and One-Day Open Series @ Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson) and One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC winner and 12th on the Order of Merit list, Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017).

The PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP is the fourth major of the year, bringing together the top players from the East coast. It should be an exciting & challenging event. Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
