The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday, May 26 to Monday, May 28 at the PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS @ CC of Salisbury. CC of Salisbury is a challenging course for this two day event. The event features a field of 88 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
The Bell Division field features 61 players highlighted by eight of the top 10 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Sarah Bae (Raleigh, NC 2013) in 3rd position, Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) in 4th position, Hannah Craver (Winston-Salem, NC 2013) in 8th position, and Allison Markiewicz (Charlotte, NC 2013) in 9th position. Five of the ten event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS, including: PKB Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles winner and in 6th position on the Order of Merit list, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017), NC University Classic @ UNC Chapel Hill Finley GC winner and 12th on the Jessica Porvasnik (Hinckley, OH 2013), Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC winner and in 7th position on the Order of Merit list, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015), PKBGT MASTERS @ Salem Glen G & CC and One-Day Open Series @ Sapona CC winner and 1st position on the Order of Merit list, Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013), and Carolina’s Classic @ Carolina Trace CC winner and 5th position on the Order of Merit list, Emily Brooks (Chapel Hill, NC 2012). The Bell Division will play 54 holes at the PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Futures Division field features 27 players highlighted by seven of the top 10 players of the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) in 3rd position, Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) in 4th position, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 6th position, and Megan Cullip (Charlotte, NC 2015) in 7th position. Four of the seven event champions from this season will be playing at the PKBGT MASTERS, including: Palmetto Classic @ USC Cobblestone Park GC and Carolina’s Classic @ Carolina Trace CC winner and 2nd position on the Order of Merit list, Kristin Hearp (Salem, VA 2016), Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC winner and 5th position on the Order of Merit list, Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018), Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland GC and 9th on the Order of Merit list, Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015), and One-Day Open Series @ Sapona CC winner and 29th on the Order of Merit list, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017). The Futures Division will play 36 holes at the PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS is the second major of the year, bringing together the top players from nine states. It should be an exciting & challenging event. Who will be golden?
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
