One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Monday, August 6 at the One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC. Chapel Hill CC is a challenging course for this one-day event. The event features a field of 33 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 10 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013) in 8th position, Sophie Riegel (Cary, NC 2014) in 97th position, Anna Gallerani (Greensboro, NC 2013) in 101st position, and Erica Gallerani (Greensboro, NC 2013) in 107th position. Savanna Wood (Boone, NC 2014) will be playing her first PKB event this season.

The Futures Division field features 23 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 30 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Janie Thomas (Winston-Salem, NC 2016) in 18th position, Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) in 19th position, Victoria Hedrick (Lexington, NC 2014) in 28th position, and Caroline Cox (Greensboro, NC 2013) in 29th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Rea Madan (Charlotte, NC 2016), Kit McHutchison (Durham, NC 2015), and Melissa Pittelli (Apex, NC 2013).

The One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC is the eighth one-day event of the season, bringing together the top players from North Carolina. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
