Recap: South Carolina Series at Cobbs Glen CC

Greensboro, NC – On Saturday, August 27th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played a South Carolina Series event at Cobbs Glen Country Club.

Cobbs Glen Country Club was a great and challenging venue for our players to play on and players arrived ready to get their rounds going with the opening tee time at 12:30 pm. At the end of the day, three girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the South Carolina Series at Cobbs Glen Country Club.

Prep Division

Emma Mae Stover (Hendersonville, NC 2026) made a pair of birdies on her opening nine in route to scoring a 78(+6) on the day. It would be enough to win the tournament by a stroke. Kathryn DeLoach (Athens, GA 2026) made 12 pars in her round and shot 79(+7) to finish in second place. Lindley Cox (Taylors, SC 2023) made six pars over her last nine holes helping propel her into third place. Cadence Nance (Sharburgs, GA 2026) shot a 39(+3) on the front nine and ultimately finished in fourth place.

Futures Division

Minyan Ou (Shelby, NC 2028) made 10 pars in her first nine holes on her way to posting a 80(+8). Her 80 would be 5 shots clear of second place giving her the championship trophy. Emmeline Niolon (Athens, GA 2025) birdied the par-5 15th hole on her way to a second place finish. Katelyn Cox (Taylors, SC 2026) had a birdie of her own on the 5th hole and would finish in third place.

Discovery Division

Kennedy Gallentine (Iron Station, NC 2029) birdied the par-5 8th hole and would shoot 38(+2) for the day giving her a three shot victory. Minlin Ou (Shelby, NC 2032) started off hot birding the second and third hole. She would shoot 41(+5) and finish in solo second place. Willa Green (Greenville, SC 2030) scored a 52(+16) for her nine holes and would finish in third place.

Closing Remarks

We would like to extend our greatest thanks to the entire staff at Cobbs Glen Country Club for their incredible hospitality. This weekend provided a challenge for all of our competitors and we would like to congratulate all of our top finishers at the South Carolina Series at Cobbs Glen CC.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
