Greensboro, NC – On Saturday, August 27th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played a Middle Atlantic Series event at Hillendale Country Club.
The Middle Atlantic Series had an event at Hillendale Country Club on Saturday. Players arrived early eager to get ready for their rounds with play beginning at 12:00 pm. At the end of the day, three players rose to the top of their divisions and won the Middle Atlantic Series at Hillendale CC.
Prep Division
Lila Becker (Woodstock, MD 2025) caught fire Saturday and birdied three holes in a row. She made the turn at even par and wound up shooting a 76(+3) giving her a 5 shot victory. Felicity Chen (Reston, VA 2024) birdied two holes including the 18th hole to push her into a tie for second place. Marina Lin (McLean, VA 2025) had a pair of birdies herself and matched Chen’s 81(+8) to finish T2.

Futures Division
Isabelle LeBlanc (Bethesda, MD 2026) made five birdies during her round including a stretch of three in four holes on the back nine. Her hot day lead her to a 78(+5) and a four stroke victory. Lani Park (Columbia, MD 2025) made a birdie on the par-4 14th hole and finished in solo second place. Caitlyn Navaleza (Baltimore, MD 2026) made 7 pars on her opening nine in route to a 40(+3) and finished in a tie for third. Matching Navaleza’s 83(+10) was Claire Son (Frederick, MD 2027) who birdied the 14th hole as well.

Discovery Division
Multiple playoff holes was needed to determine the Discovery division champion. Dahlia Garnick (Wilmington, DE 2029) outlasted Sy Shafie (Laytonsville, MD 2028) on the second playoff hole to claim the trophy. Garnick’s round was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the 6th and 8th holes. Shafie had a pair of birdies as well, birding the fourth and fifth holes. Angela Yao (Potomac, MD 2028) made a birdie on the par-5 5th and finished in a tie for third with Madeline Navaleza (Baltimore, MD 2028). Navaleza had five pars over her nine holes.

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
