Lee, Woodrum Winners at the 12th National Tournament of Champions

Pinehurst, N.C. — The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour returned to Forest Creek Country Club for the 12th PKBGT Tournament of Champions. The Tournament of Champions welcomes players who excelled on the PKBGT with victories or top finishers in championship events.

Despite the chilly, windy conditions on Saturday, Bell National players attacked the course with six players shooting even par or better! Rebecca Lee (Johns Creek, GA 2026) had the low round of the day with her score of 69 (-3) that was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole. Carter Bransford (Glen Allen, VA 2026), Tiffany Ha Eun Moon (Chapel Hill, NC 2028), Sophia Lee (Duluth, GA 2029), & Lauren Davis (Cary, NC 2030) all finished the first round tied for second with scores of 71 (-1).

2024 Bash at the Beach Prep Preview Medalists

After an early double bogey, Rebecca Lee held steady making 3 birdies and 7 pars over her next 10 holes. She would finish her round at even par which was enough to hold off a charging Macie Rasmussen (Chesapeake, VA 2027) to win by one. Rasmussen fired the round of the day on Sunday with a closing 69 (-3) making four birdies including two of her last three to put the pressure on Lee. Bransford and Moon matched scores for the second day in a row with a pair of 73 (+1)’s to tie for third place.

In the Prep Preview division, Sydney Marshall (Milton, GA 2027) recorded the low round of her division with a 71 (-1) to storm out to an early lead with many competitors on her heels! Marshall was unable to sustain her momentum into her second round allowing players to claw their way back in. Madison Woodrum (Statesboro, GA 2029) took advantage. She played her final 11 holes of the tournament bogey-free helping to take the lead and ultimately winning by one stroke.

2024 Prep Preview Medalists

Madelyn Dickerson (Debary, FL 2033) impressed over the weekend as the first underage player to qualify for the National Tournament of Champions and she proved why with rounds of 76 & 75 leading her to a tie for second place. Tying for second with Dickerson was Sydney Marshall & Pearl Hughes (Dawsonville, GA 2027). Hughes matched each of Dickerson’s scores to climb the leaderboard and into the three-way tie.

Congratulations to the champions of the 12th National Tournament of Champions and all of our medalists from this past weekend. We would also like to thank the staff at Forest Creek Country Club for hosting us this weekend and their amazing hospitality!

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2023-2024 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
