Bermuda Run, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour traveled to Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, NC to play the second round of the 14th PKBGT Invitational.
The nice weather on Friday didn’t carry into Saturday leaving the field with a cold and very windy round today. With tee times commencing at 9:30 am players arrived early, eager, and dressed very warmly to get ready for the second round of the PKBGT Invitational. The tough weather conditions made scoring difficult but several players still played excellent rounds positioning themselves for Monday’s final round.
Alexsandra Lapple (Pinehurst, NC 2023) and Anna Howerton (Winston Salem, NC 2023) were the only two players to shoot even par on the day. Lapple, who made six birdies yesterday, made four more today on her way to a 72. Howerton played her final five holes in 2-under to get back to even on the day and into the top-3 on the leaderboard. Overnight leader Macy Pate (Winston Salem, NC 2022) had a rough start to her round making a bogey on three of her first five holes. Pate righted the ship and played the final thirteen holes in even par giving herself a two shot lead entering the final round.
Victoriah Kuranga (Decatur, GA 2023) eagled the par-5 17th hole moving her up the leaderboard and into the penultimate group on Monday. Playing in her first Bell National event, Aphrodite Deng (Short Hills, NJ 2028) is holding her own playing alongside some of the top high school seniors in the country. Deng has made six birdies over the last two days and will look to make more tomorrow.

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
