Preview: OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Greensboro, N.C. – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour returns to Salisbury Country Club for the annual PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. Contested every year over Memorial Day weekend, five college signees/commits and residents of 14 states highlight this top 25 nationally ranked event. A cut to the low 50% and ties will be made after thirty-six holes in all three divisions. 

Bell National

Forty-eight players will tee it up on the 6200 yards par 72 set up in the Bell National division.

Top-ranked players in the field include:

  • Anna Howerton — Winston-Salem, N.C. — Class of 2023 — #3 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Won the 14th Peggy Kirk Bell Junior
  • Avery McCrery — Wilmington, Del. — Class of 2025 — #4 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Placed third at the 2022 PKBGT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
  • Emerson B. Dever — Durham, N.C. — Class of 2025 — #6 on the PKBGT Performance Index — 5 PKBGT Top-10s in this season

Prep Preview

Twenty-one players will tee it up on the 5800 yards par 72 set up in the Bell National division.

  • Riley Grimm — Pinehurst, N.C. — Class of 2028 — #13 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Won the 2023 PKBGT Masters
  • Lila Becker— Woodstock, Md. — Class of 2025 — #157 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Placed fourth in the 2022 PKBGT Open Championship
  • Miraya Lurie — Raleigh, N.C. — Class of 2027 — #160 on the PKBGT Performance Index — 5 PKBGT Top-10s in 2023

  • Rose Hall — Yorktown, Va. — Class of 2029 — #327 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Won the Cutter Creek Girls Classic
  • Natalia Henderson — Southern Pines, N.C. — Class of 2029 — #334 on the PKBGT Performance Index — Won the PKB Foundation Classic

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
