Wilmington, DE – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour headed to DuPont Country Club for the final round of the DuPont Girls Classic.
Bell National
After a steady opening 73 (+1) that yielded a par of birdies, Kiersten Bodge (West Chester, PA 2027) saw herself tied for third and three shots behind the leader. After playing her front nine on Sunday in even par, Bodge made the turn holding the lead. Bodge made a bounce back birdie on 12 after a bogey on 11 and added another birdie coming in to post a round of one-under. Her 71 (-1) was the round of the day on Sunday and catapulted her to a four shot victory. Bodge has won the DuPont Girls Classic for the second consecutive year after winning in the Futures National division last year! Michelle Yeung (Clarksville, MD 2027) made three birdies on Sunday to finish second in her first Bell National event! During the first round, Meredith Finger (Wilmington, DE 2026) made four consecutive birdies and added five more during her round on Sunday to finish tied for third with Shelby Herbert (Charlotte Hall, MD 2024). Herbert’s tournament was highlighted by an eagle on the twelfth hole during her first round which she played in one under.

Futures National
Savannah Laverty (Moorestown, NJ 2027) entered Sunday holding a share of the lead after opening with a 78 (+6) and continued playing great. Laverty birdied the twelfth hole and shot 79 (+7). Annabel Widdifield (McLean, VA 2026) came from behind on Sunday and bettered her opening score by eleven strokes. Her 73 (+1) set the clubhouse lead and Laverty’s par on 18 forced a sudden death playoff. On the first playoff hole Laverty broke the tie and claimed the championship for her first victory of the year. Behind Laverty and Widdifield there was a three way tie for third place. Aspen Bikowski (White Plains, MD 2027) made nine consecutive pars to move into the top three for her third consecutive event. Eight birdies and an eagle over the weekend helped propel Jillian Burks (Paoli, PA 2027) into the tie for third place. This matched her best finish in the Futures National division. Bryn Krosse (York, PA 2030), the youngest player in the field, shot a final round 76 (+4), to record her highest National Series finish.

We would like to thank the staff at DuPont County Club for their incredible hospitality over the weekend and keeping the course in great shape! The course provided a great test for all our players and created an exciting final round to crown our champions!

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina. The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
