Recap: Eastern NC Girls Classic

Rocky Mount, NC The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour headed to Rocky Mount, NC  for the final round of the Eastern NC Girls Classic at Benvenue Country Club. 

 

Prep Preview

Riley Grimm (Pinehurst, NC 2028) entered Sunday holding a one shot lead over Ann-Sophie Bourgault (Quebec, Canada 2026) and the two put on a fantastic show to decide the Eastern NC Classic champion. The two battled it out on the front nine and both played flawlessly to close their rounds with Bourgault playing her final seven holes in two under and Grimm playing hers in one under. This ultimately lead to them sharing their lead after both players made par on the last. It took two playoff holes to decide the champion and Bourgault claimed the championship with a par. Maria Isabella Errichetto (Southern Pines,NC 2027) would finish in solo third place. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 fifteenth hole. Josephina Lillian Kritsky (Potomac Falls, VA 2027) and Isabelle LeBlanc (Bethesda, MD 2026) would wind up tying for fourth place with a score of 164 (+20) for the weekend. Both players birdied the tenth hole with Kritsky adding one more to her card on the twelfth on Sunday.

Futures National

Ira Joshi (Charlotte, NC 2029) held a one shot overnight lead and came out hot on Sunday to widen her lead. Joshi played her first eleven holes in one under par to take firm control of the tournament! From there she would cruise to a four shot victory. Gabriella Collelo(Pinehurst, NC 2029) made two birdies on Sunday to move up to solo second place for the event. Amelia Santiago (Holly Springs, NC 2028) bettered her opening round by ten strokes with a Sunday 76! She would tie for third along with Karoline Sweet (Moseley, VA 2028) and Katherine Yun (Moseley, VA 2028).

Congratulations to the 2023 Eastern NC Girls Classic champions and all the medalists from Benvenue Country Club! We would like to thank the staff at Benvenue for their incredible hospitality over the weekend! The course provided a great test for all our players and created an exciting final round to crown our champions!

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
