Recap: PKB Foundation Classic

Pinehurst, NC The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour headed to Pinehurst, NC  for the final round of the PKB Foundation Classic at the Mid South Club

 

Bell National

Sophie Lauture (Charlotte, NC 2024) entered the final round with a one shot, Bell National lead. After making a double bogey on the second hole, Lauture played the rest of her front nine in one-under par and was able to take control of the tournament. From there Lauture was able to hold onto win the Bell Division. Heather Appelson (Wake Forest, NC 2025) started the day three shots back and played her closing round in four over which moved her up to solo second place for the event. Entering the just one behind Lauture, Julia Herzberg (Aberdeen, NC 2026) was able to put pressure on the leader and even able to take a brief lead with four holes to play but would close with four bogey’s and finish in third. The Bell round of the day belonged to Lilly Hall (Yorktown, VA 2024) who fired a closing 73 (+1), seven strokes better than day one. Hall moved into fourth place after her stellar final round which included an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole!

1. Sophie Lauture (Charlotte, NC 2024) / 72 + 77 = 149 (+5)

2. Heather Appelson (Wake Forest, NC 2025) / 75 + 76 = 151 (+7)

3. Julia Herzberg (Aberdeen, NC 2026) / 73 + 79 = 152 (+8)

4. Lilly Hall (Yorktown, VA 2024) / 80 + 73 = 153 (+9)

Prep Preview

Emma Marshall (Bremen, GA 2025) held a one shot overnight lead over Kelsey Sciacca (Charlotte, NC 2026). After a back and forth front nine, Sciacca had caught Marshall to share the lead and Alexandra Kennedy (Arden, NC 2026) was on their heels one shot behind. Sciacca birdied the par-4 tenth hole to claim the lead and wouldn’t give it up from there, closing in 37 and shooting 76 (+4). Kennedy made a birdie on the 18th hole which would ultimately push her into solo second for the event. Kailey Lane (Harriman, TN 2024) played another steady round on Sunday and would wind up in fourth place for the tournament.

1. Kelsey Sciacca (Charlotte, NC 2026) / 79 + 76 = 155 (+11)

2. Alexandra Kennedy (Arden, NC 2026) / 81 + 77 = 158 (+14)

3. Emma Marshall (Bremen, GA 2025) / 78 + 81 = 159 (+15)

4. Kailey Lane (Harriman, TN 2024) / 83 + 78 = 161 (+17)

Futures National

Natalia Henderson (Southern Pines, NC 2029) entered the day three shots behind leader Aayra Iqbal (Charlotte, NC 2027) but Henderson claimed the lead after made birdie on the par-5 ninth. It would end up being a lead that Henderson would not relinquish finishing the tournament with a Sunday score of 81 (+9) and a four shot victory. Iqbal would finish in solo second place. Olivia Cho (Ashburn, VA 2028) played another solid round and would finish in solo third place for the tournament. Catherine DeSiena (Oak Ridge, NC 2024) bettered her opening round by twelve strokes and climbed four spots on the leaderboard to secure medalist honors!

2. Aayra Iqbal (Charlotte, NC 2027) / 80 + 88 = 168 (+24)

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
