Update: Shoomee leads TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

On Monday, August 11, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. Pine Needles, host the US Women’s Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007, is among the most well know golf courses in the southern US and a ideal setting for the final open major championship of the PKB Tour regular season. The event features a field 65 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division (Prep Series), after round one, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) is leading the field by one stroke at one under par with a score of 70. Not far behind Shoomee is
Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) at even par with a score of 71. Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) and Emily Salamy (Williamsburg, VA 2015) are tied for third at one over par each with scores of 72.

In the Futures Division, after round one, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) is leading the field by two strokes at three over par with a score of 74. Not far behind Turner is Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) and Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) who are tied for second at five over par each with scores of 76. Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) sits at fourth place with six over par with a score of 77.

Weather for Tuesday’s round is partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the high 80s and a chance for afternoon storms. Despite the possibility for storms, it should be a great day for moving day at the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP!
