On Saturday, April 6, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the MASTERS at Salem Glen Golf & Country Club. The course is a still a bit wet from spring showers before the tournament, but the greens were firm and fast. The event features a field of 82 players. The field is quite strong with 10 event champions from the 2013 season, 12 of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, 17 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, and the defending 2012 PKBGT MASTERS champion.
The Bell Division field features 59 golfers, highlighted by 12 of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, After round one, Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) is leading the field by two strokes at one over par with a score of 72. Not far behind Migliaccio is Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) and Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) tied for second at three over par with a score of 74. Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) is in fourth place at four over par with a score of 75.
The Futures Division field features 23 golfers, highlighted by 10 of the top 30 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists. After round one, there is a three-way tie for first between Maria Cassas (Cary, NC 2015), Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017), and Mckenzie Hedrick (Bishop, GA 2015) at eight over par with a score of 79. Not far behind the leaders are Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) at 12 over par with a score of 83 and Casey Burroughs (Wake Forest, NC 2016) at 13 over par with a score of 84.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
