The weather was perfect and the course in amazing shape.\u00a0 Greens as pure as the sky is blue.\u00a0 Nerves have settled and scores got lower.\u00a0Boiling Springs High School\u00a0won their 1st WSCGA Junior Golf Foundation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Championship beating defending champions Lexington High School by 14 shots.\u00a0 The team was lead by Mary Kathryn Talledo who played consistantly both days posting a 75-78=153 and securing an individual overall 5th place finish in the field.\u00a0 Amber Amaker also finished in the top ten with a two day total of 158.\u00a0 Rounding out the team scores was Madison Lynn Dixon with a 160 and Kyleigh Antley 204.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lexington High School\u00a0finished 2nd in roller coaster fashion.\u00a0 After completing the first round Lexington was in second place until realizing one of their top 3 players got disqualified for signing a wrong scorecard<\/div>\n\n\n\n

dropping Lexington into 7th place with a lot of ground to make up.\u00a0 The gap ended up being to great, but that didn’t keep them from fighting for the championship and settling for 2nd.\u00a0 Three of the four players posted a 37 on the front nine with Isabella Rawl leading the charge with an even par 72 for the day.\u00a0 Karlee Vardis bounced back and posted a 75, Molly Hardwick a 76, and Emily Beiers 89.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Finishing 3rd today was\u00a0Blythewood HighSchool\u00a0shooting 247-251=498. During the live scoring Blythewood bounced around in the top 3 slots to end up in 3rd.\u00a0 Leading Blythewood in the final round was Parker Stalvey with an 82.\u00a0 Following Stalvey was her sister, Ella Stalvey, and Cori Langford shooting an 84 and 85, respectively.\u00a0 \u00a0Lizzie Madden posted an 86.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In Fourth Place for the tournament was the team of\u00a0Byrnes High School.\u00a0 Byrnes shot a two day total of 500.\u00a0 Leading the team in the final round<\/div>\n

Finishing 5th for the weekend was\u00a0Oceanside High School\u00a0with a 250-252=502.\u00a0 Oceanside High was lead by 2018 WSCGA Junior State Girls Champion, Rachel Rich carding a pair of 75’s for an overall individual 3rd place finish in the field.\u00a0 Finishing out the the team was Gabby Martinez (86), Lexi Lucarelli (90), and Haven Hobbs (99).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The all tournament team for the Invitational was awarded to the top 5 overall individual players.\u00a0 The top 5 finishers were Emily Dunlap, Kennedy Gooding, Rachel Rich, Emma Charles, and Mary Kathryn Talledo.\u00a0 Dunlap playing for\u00a0Mauldin High School\u00a0as an individual, shot a over par 75 in round one and five under 67 today. Dunlap’s two day total of 142 included six birdies and an exemption into the 2018 Peggy Kirk Bell Championship, 2018 Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, 2019 Eggland’s Best Championship, and 2019 Vicki Desantis Invitational.\u00a0 Kennedy Gooding (Gilbert High School) posted an even par 72 today with 3 birdies and 3 bogey’s being good enough to also earn a sponsor exemption into the PKGT Championship and Invitational; while Rich will receive an exemption into the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational.\u00a0 Emma Charles from\u00a0Hartsville High School\u00a0posted 5 birdies over the two days for her 4th place finish.<\/div>\n

The WSCGA Junior Golf Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote junior golf in the State of South Carolina by providing golf scholarships, playing and teaching the game of golf, and promoting amateur golf. In 2017, the Foundation spent over $52,000 in supporting the growth of the game through several outlets, including the South Carolina High School Golf League; hosting a High School Invitational; hosting an LPGA instructional clinic for high school girls teams; hosting\u00a0The Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0Junior Girls Championship; partnering with the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour for a series of clinics and tournaments in South Carolina\u00a0;\u00a0\u00a0and giving financial assistance to juniors to help support the growth of their golf game.
