{"id":8323,"date":"2017-10-02T14:53:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T14:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=8323"},"modified":"2017-10-05T00:44:54","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T00:44:54","slug":"17event66_preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/17event66_preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Preview: 9th Annual Jimmy Anderson Girls&#8217; Invitational at Jacksonville CC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Content courtesy of the Carolinas Golf Association:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Jacksonville Country Club Board of Directors have announced the dates for the ninth annual Jimmy Anderson Girls\u2019 Invitational to honor Mr. Jimmy Anderson for <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0px; margin: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/jacksonville.gif\" alt=\"Jacksonville Country Club\" width=\"100\" height=\"120\" border=\"0\" \/>his service as golf professional at Jacksonville Country Club and his dedication and support of junior golf. The event will be a 36-hole stroke play tournament for junior female golfers between the ages of 12 \u2013 18 who have not finished high school.\u00a0 The tournament will be contested October 7-8, 2017 at Jacksonville Country Club in Jacksonville, NC.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Anderson was the head golf professional at Jacksonville Country Club for over 25 years.\u00a0 Each Saturday morning, he conducted a junior golf clinic to help spread the game of golf to the next generation.\u00a0 During his tenure at Jacksonville CC, he taught many juniors including Mallory Miller, the 1987 N.C. Junior Champion and numerous future collegiate and golf professionals.\u00a0 Not only did he teach the game of golf, but was always there with a helpful word of encouragement to any young golfer.<\/p>\n<p>A record field of 64 junior girl golfers from four different states will compete on the George Cobb designed course that opened for play in 1954, and has hosted numerous tournaments, including the Carolinas Golf Association\u2019s 2007 North Carolina Mid-Amateur.\u00a0 This year\u2019s event will be conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association and the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
