There are 51 participants competing in the event; 12 teams: West Johnston High School, Cox Mills High School, Marvin Ridge High School, Cleveland High School, Clayton High School, New Bern High School, Pinecrest High School (Gold), Pinecrest High School (Green), Sun Valley High School, Laney High School, Ravenscroft School, and Cape Fear High School, as well as 4 individuals: Katie Hawkins of Halifax Academy, Angelique Seymour of Liberty Christian Academy, Myranda Vogan of New Bern High School, and Kayla Ward of Garner Magnet High School.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/keithhills.gif\" alt=\"Keith Hills Golf Club\" width=\"100\" height=\"120\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At last year&#8217;s North State Girls&#8217; High School Challenge, Pinecrest High School&#8217;s Gold team of Pinehurst, NC repeated as winners of the event at Keith Hills GC in Buies Creek, NC, winning by 32 shots over Pinecrest High School&#8217;s Green team.\u00a0 Pinecrest (Gold) was lead by freshman Jaclyn Kenzel of Southern Pines, NC who won the medalist award with a round of five over par 77.\u00a0 Pinecrest&#8217;s Gold team placed all four players in the top eight of the individual scores.\u00a0 Senior, Elizabeth Nguyen of Pinehurst, NC contributed a round of 79; Junior Mackenzie Battle of Aberdeen, NC finished with a round of 80; and Sophomore Lorin Wagler of Seven Lakes, NC shot a round of 83.\u00a0 New Bern High School of New Bern, NC finished in third place with a team score of 282.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Awards will be presented to the winning school, members of the winning team, medalist of the tournament, and\u00a0all-tournament first and second teams.\u00a0The all-tournament first team will earn invitations to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/tournaments_invitational.php\">2017 PKBGT Invitational<\/a> at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC on November 11-13, 2017.\u00a0The event medalist\u00a0will earn Class A status and an invitation to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/tournaments_toc.php\">2017 PKBGT\u00a0Tournament of Champions<\/a>\u00a0at Pinehurst No. 8 in Pinehurst, NC on December 2-3, 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
