{"id":8165,"date":"2017-08-07T01:31:29","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T01:31:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=8165"},"modified":"2017-08-07T01:31:29","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T01:31:29","slug":"17event52_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/17event52_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: Sambach, Atwood Win 2017 TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP @ Salem Glen CC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, August 6, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour played the final round of the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Salem Glen CC in Clemmons, NC. \u00a0This event wraps up the 2017 PKBGT Championship season.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/salemglen.gif\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"20\" vspace=\"20\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Winning the Bell Series with a commanding score of 220 was Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) with rounds of 73-73-74. Sambach made back-to-back birdies on the finishing holes on Sunday to pull ahead by one stroke to win the Championship. Finishing in second place with rounds of 73-69-79-221 was Sasha Hayes (Winston Salem, NC 2020). \u00a0One shot back in third was Skylar Sload (Ashburn, VA 2018) with scores of 77-72-73-222. Placing in fourth was Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) with scores of 80-71-73-224. In fifth place with scores of 72-76-79-227 was Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018).<\/p>\n<p>The Champion of the Futures Series was Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) with a three day score of 79-70-72-221. Atwood made three birdies on the day to off set three bogeys and remain at level par for the final day. \u00a0Finishing in second place was Emma Chen (Derwood, MD 2022) with scores of 71-79-80-230. Finishing in third place was Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021) with a three day total of 76-81-75-232. Placing in fourth place was Morgan Ketchum (Winston-Salem, NC 2022) with scores of 78-82-75-235. Finishing in a tie for fifth place was Halynn Lee (Cary, NC 2021) and Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) bith with a three day total of 236.<\/p>\n<p><em>The TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2017 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. Winning the 2017 Bell Series Order of Merit was our Champion this weekend Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021). Sambach won 3 her last three starts in the PKBGT Majors with wins at MASTERS, PRECISION Jr. Girls, and TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP. Amanda is also the first PKBGT Player in the tour&#8217;s history to win all three Order of Merit Races back-to-back-to-back years. Winning the 2017 Futures Series Order of Merit is also our champion this weekend, Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022). Atwood had 7 either top or runner-up finishes this season with four wins this season. Congratulations to both Ladies on their wonderful accomplishments this season.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\/\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
