On July 15, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will play the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at the University of Maryland’s golf course<\/a>. \u00a0The course is home to the men’s and women’s Terps golf teams and will return as a tour stop of the PKBGT. \u00a0One-day tournaments are \"Universitydesigned for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. \u00a0The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. \u00a0The tournament features a field of 35 players and will include the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.<\/p>\n

Featured in the Prep Series is Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) and Anna Moore (Wilmington, NC 2018). Hankim is currently ranked 10th on the Prep MA One-Day Series Order of Merit and has finished 2nd place in her last two MA One-Day Series appearances. Moore is currently ranked T68 in the Prep NC One-Day Series Order of Merit and finished top-10 at the Precision Junior Girls’ Championships at Bryan Park in Greensboro, NC. They look to continue their success at the MA One-Day Series at University of Maryland GC.<\/p>\n

Featured in the Futures Series Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022), Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020), and Emma Chen (Derwood, MD ). \u00a0Sue is currently ranked 1st on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished in 3rd place at her last MA One-Day Series at Shenandoah Valley GC. \u00a0Vynie is currently ranked T7 on the Futures MA Order of Merit and finished 2nd place at her last MA One-Day Series at Shenandoah Valley. \u00a0Emma is currently ranked 5th on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished 3rd at her last MA One-Day Series at Augustine Golf Club. They look to continue their success at the MA One-Day Series at University of Maryland GC.<\/p>\n

The Discovery Series features a field of six players from the Virginia, \u00a0Maryland, and DC area. \u00a0They will play 9-holes for the title and awards will be presented to the top-2 players in the Series.<\/p>\n

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host events in Virginia and Maryland. \u00a0The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery. \u00a0On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops. \u00a0The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers. \u00a0Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
