{"id":7805,"date":"2017-04-16T02:16:28","date_gmt":"2017-04-16T02:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=7805"},"modified":"2017-04-16T02:16:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-16T02:16:28","slug":"17event16_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/17event16_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: Smith, Meric Win NC One-Day @ Forest Oaks CC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pkb.shotstat.com\/TournamentScoring\/Scoreboard.aspx?TID=5096\">&#8212; Live Scoring &#8212;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, April 15, 2017 the PKBGT played the NC One-Day Series at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, NC. \u00a0This course is known for\u00a0the PGA Tour\u00a0event that was held there for 30 years: the\u00a0Wyndham Championship, formerly known as the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, and the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO).\u00a0 This is also a preview event for the 2017 PKBGT season.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/forestoaks.gif\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"20\" vspace=\"20\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Winning the NC Prep Series after the first playoff hole with a round of 75 was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019). \u00a0In second place also with a 75 was Taylor Hinson (Belmont, NC 2017). \u00a0In third place matching cards with a 79 was Samantha Debusk (Lexington, NC 2017). \u00a0In fourth place with a 79 was Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the NC Futures Series this week was Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2022) with a 78. \u00a0In second place by one stroke was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a 79. \u00a0In third place was Trinity\u00a0Muthomi (Kernersville, NC 2022) with an 80. \u00a0In fourth place with an 83 was Katelyn Kenthack \u00a0(Pinehurst, NC 2020).<\/p>\n<p>The PKBGT returns to action next weekend April 22nd and 23rd with the Masters Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
