(April 2, 2017)<\/b> <b>\u2014\u00a0<\/b>A nine and half hour drive home awaits champion Lauren Freyvogel, but she is not worried, she will be floating. \u00a0Following two stellar days of golf on the challenging <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoneypointclassic.com\/the-classic\/the-links-at-stoney-point\/\">Links at Stoney Point<\/a>\u00a0setup, the Pittsburgh native claimed the coveted sponsor exemption for the upcoming\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoneypointclassic.com\/\">Self Regional Women\u2019s Health Classic<\/a>,\u00a0the premier event on the LPGA Symetra Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Freyvogel entered the final round leading by 4 shots after a scorching 2-under par 70 on the over 6,100 yard layout. \u00a0A couple early birdies expanded her lead to as many as 9 shots over the field and a spot in her first ever professional event was in site.<\/p>\n<p>The event then tightened as Vanderbilt signee Louise Yu (Duluth, GA) and East Carolina University signee Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC) both made a couple of birdies and Freyvogel was beset by a\u00a0string of bogeys. \u00a0 After 12 holes, Freyvogel was over par for the first time in the tournament and holding a three shot lead.<\/p>\n<p>From this point, Freyvogel played like the eventual champion, playing the final six holes at one over par, the only blemish a bogey at the difficult 15th hole. \u00a0Carson &amp; Yu both surrendered shots on the toughest par three on the course, hole 17 and Freyvogel finished with back to back pars to claim a four shot victory.<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation, the LPGA Symetra Tour\u2019s Women\u2019s Health Classic and the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls&#8217; Golf Tour (PKBGT) conducted the 36-hole <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/tournaments_whcsymetra.php\">Women&#8217;s Health Classic Junior Challenge<\/a>\u00a0Qualifier this weekend. \u00a0The qualified featured 30 of the top junior girls ages 11-18 from across the East Coast.\u00a0 The Junior Challenge participants earned their spot in the field through a series of six pre-qualification tournaments contested over the last two months which featured 152 players from 14 states.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">###<\/p>\n<p><strong>About PKB Girls&#8217; Golf Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls&#8217; golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept from Tour Founder Robert Linville, PGA: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls in the Carolina&#8217;s.
