(April 1, 2017)<\/b> <b>\u2014\u00a0<\/b>On April 1st, the PKBGT played the first round of the Women&#8217;s Health Classic Junior Challenge at The Links at Stoney Point. Stoney Point is home to the \u00a0LPGA Symetra Tour\u2019s Women\u2019s Health Classic. The PKBGT is proud to be \u00a0in partnership with the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation, the LPGA Symetra Tour\u2019s Women\u2019s Health Classic for this event.<\/p>\n<p>In the Bell Division, after round one, Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) is leading the field by four strokes at two under par with a score of 70. Not far behind Freyvogel is Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) with a round one score of 2 over par 74 . Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) takes the third place spot with a first round score of 75. In a tie for fourth place with a score of 76 Carly Lyvers (Greenville, SC 2018) and Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017).<\/p>\n<p>The champion of this qualifier receives a sponsor exemption into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoneypointclassic.com\/\">2017 Self Regional Women\u2019s Health Classic<\/a> \u2014 the premier event on the LPGA Symetra Tour \u2014\u00a0played May 11-14 at the Links at Stoney Point.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/tournaments_whcsymetra.php\">Women&#8217;s Health Classic Junior Challenge<\/a>\u00a0represents the first east coast opportunity for a junior player to earn access to an LPGA professional event.<\/p>\n<p>Previously called the LPGA Futures Tour, the Symetra Tour is the official developmental tour of the LPGA Tour. Known as \u201cthe Road to the LPGA,\u201d the Symetra Tour has graduated a total of 117 women to the LPGA since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The second round begins Sunday, April 2 at 9:00 a.m. from the first tee. The trophy ceremony will take place at the scoreboard immediately following play around 3:00 p.m.\u00a0 There is no admission for the Qualifier and spectators are welcomed to come out to watch the girls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Links at Stoney Point is very excited about hosting the PKBGT Junior Challenge and promoting women\u2019s golf,\u201d said Jim Medford, chairman and owner of The Links at Stoney Point and the Women&#8217;s Health Classic Tournament Director. \u201cThis series of events enhances our continued efforts to support and promote women&#8217;s golf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">###<\/p>\n<p><strong>About PKB Girls&#8217; Golf Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls&#8217; golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept from Tour Founder Robert Linville, PGA: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls in the Carolina&#8217;s. Developed as a partnership with Tour Director Mike Parker and two LPGA teaching professionals, the tour set out to change the landscape of junior girls&#8217; golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the players pace. The premier event on the LPGA Symetra Tour, the event will host the top aspiring LPGA professionals with the largest prize pool on the tour.
