{"id":7409,"date":"2016-08-21T15:50:07","date_gmt":"2016-08-21T15:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=7409"},"modified":"2016-08-21T15:50:07","modified_gmt":"2016-08-21T15:50:07","slug":"16event42_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/16event42_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: Fox Wins One-Day Finale at Beacon Ridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On August 20th, the 2016\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0played the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pkb.shotstat.com\/Tour\/TournamentDetail.aspx?TID=4045\">NC One-Day Open Series Finale<\/a>\u00a0at Beacon Ridge Golf &amp; Country Club.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/beaconridge.gif\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"20\" vspace=\"20\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Beacon Ridge has hosted a PKBGT Last Chance Qualifier in 2013. \u00a0One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to &#8220;get in to the swing of things&#8221; playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 30 players from the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the Futures Series was Lotte Fox (Raleigh, NC 2020) with a round of 76. \u00a0She is also the Futures One-Day Order of Merit Champion! \u00a0In second place with a round of 79 was Kathryn Elliott (Coats, NC2018). \u00a0In third place was Caroline Duggan (Holly Springs, NC 2019) with an 83. \u00a0In fourth place with an 84 was Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2021). \u00a0In fifth place was Bailey Copper (Pinehurst, NC 2020) with an 85.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This was the final event in the NC One-Day Series. Lotte Fox, the Champion of the NC One-Day Series Order of Merit, will\u00a0receive\u00a0an\u00a0invitation\u00a0to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pkbgt.shotstat.com\/Tour\/TournamentDetail.aspx?TID=4897\">PKBGT\u00a0INVITATIONAL<\/a>\u00a0in November at Grandover Resort.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
