On Monday, August 15, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour played the final round of the SRIXON\u00ae TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Greenville CC, This event will wrap up the 2016 PKBGT season. Greenville Country Club is home of the ECU men’s and women’s golf teams.\u00a0 This is the second year that the Tour Championship will be sponsored by Srixon\/Cleveland\/XXIO Golf and we are excited to have them as a title sponsor again this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Winning the Prep Series with a commanding score of eight under was Dorthea Forbrigd (Oslo, Norway 2016) with sub par rounds each day with 69-71-68-208. Finishing \u00a0in second place with rounds of 75-72-76-223 was Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019). One shot back in third was Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) with scores of 76-72-76-224. Sambach was also the Prep Series Order of Merit Champion for 2016. Placing in fourth place was Rebecca DNunizo (Norfolk, VA 2019) with scores of 74-76-75-225. In fifth place with scores of 76-75-79-230 was Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016). Rounding out the top six was Sarah Funderburg (Wilmington, NC 2018) with scores of 78-77-78-233. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Champion of the futures series was Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) with a three day score of 74-71-79-224. Only two shots back in second place was Sophie Simon (Potomac, MD 2021) with scores of 71-77-78-226. In a tie for third place was Anna Hillman (Summerfield, NC 2018) and Kate Hawkins (Littleton, NC 2018) with matching cards of 257. Placing fifth was Caroline Bryant (New Bern, NC 2018) with a three day total of 258. Rounding out the top six was Ashley Milliken (Monroe, NC 2017) with a three day total of 262.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The SRIXON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2016 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. At the conclusion of the event, invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL will be extended to the top-30 players from the PKBGT 2015 Bell Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-15 players from the 2015 PKBGT Prep Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-five players from the 2015 PKBGT Futures Division Order of Merit Rankings, the top-three players on the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Series Order of Merit, the number one player on the 2015 Futures One-Day Division Order of Merit, and the top-30 finishers on the PKB Performance Index. The PKBGT will also recognize any state junior amateur champion at the Invitational. This tournament will bring together players from Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
