{"id":7310,"date":"2016-07-16T20:41:39","date_gmt":"2016-07-16T20:41:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=7310"},"modified":"2016-11-23T14:56:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T14:56:57","slug":"16event35_preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/16event35_preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Preview: Hampton Roads Classic @ Cahoon Plantation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PKBGT returns to action on July 23-24 with the Hampton Roads Classic at Cahoon Plantation Golf Club. \u00a0Cahoon has served as one of the practice courses for the Old Dominion University women&#8217;s golf team. \u00a0It is also home to the Girls Golf site of Hampton Roads.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0px none; margin: 5px;\" alt=\"Cahoon Plantation Golf Club\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/cahoon.gif\" width=\"100\" height=\"120\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Featured in the Prep Series are Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018), Casey Morrow (Mars, PA 2017) and Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019).\u00a0 Battle is ranked 10th on the Prep Series Order of Merit and had three top-5 finishes this season.\u00a0 Morrow is ranked 73rd on the PKBGT Performance Index and had two top-5 finishes this year.\u00a0 DiNunzio is ranked 33rd on the Performance Index and placed second at the Commonwealth Classic this year.<\/p>\n<p>Featured in the Futures Series are Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023), Katelyn Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020) and Shalie Williams (Shawboro, NC 2018).\u00a0 Fieldings is currently ranked seventh on the Futures Series Order of Merit and has not finished outside of 5th place in in the five tournaments she&#8217;s played with the PKBGT this season.\u00a0 Kenthack is ranked 11th on the Futures One-Day Order for Merit and finished in second place at the One-Day Series event at Pinewood CC.\u00a0 Williams is currently ranked 12th in Futures Series and placed fifth in the Tar Heel Classic.<\/p>\n<p>Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in each series.\u00a0 We look forward to a great event!<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
