Pine Island, home to the Carolinas Golf Association&#8217;s Vicki DiSantis Girls&#8217; Championship in May, is a beautiful course for the first One-Day Open Series tournament of the season. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to &#8220;get in to the swing of things&#8221; playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field 45 players from the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Prep Series field features 18 golfers, highlighted by six of the top-75 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) ranked 16th, Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) ranked 27th, Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, PA 2015) ranked 42nd, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) ranked 45th, Ashley Czarnecki (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 53rd, Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) ranked 66th, and Lydia Randell (Winston-Salem, NC 2015) ranked 75th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Futures Series field features 27 golfers, highlighted by seven standout players on the 2015 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020), Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019), Emma Reid (Fletcher, NC 2018), Jayla Rogers (Wilmington, NC 2019), Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021), and Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The One-Day Open Series at Pine Island CC brings together players from North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great event!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
