One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to &#8220;get in to the swing of things&#8221; playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 24 players from the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Bell Division-Prep Series, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) and Sarah Towne (Chapel Hill, NC 2015) both shot 14 over par each with a scores of 85. The two played a seven-hole sudden-death playoff until Pritchett made an easy par to place first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Futures Division, Micah Mason (Richfield, NC 2016) shot 11 over par with a score of 82 to place first. Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) shot 12 over par with a score of 83 to place second. Dametrah Lewis (Whispering Pines, NC 2016) shot 13 over par with a score of 84 to place third.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With their victories, Pritchett and Mason received a class A exemptions into the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/tournaments_toc.php\">Tournament of Champions<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> this fall. PKBGT returns to action on Friday, July 11 with the <a href=\"http:\/\/pkb.shotstat.com\/Tour\/TournamentDetail.aspx?TID=1688\">One-Day Open Series @ Rocky River GC<\/a> in Concord, NC. The event brings together players from North Carolina and South Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
