\"\"On Saturday, January 26, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> kicked off their spring season with the first round of the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC<\/a>. University of Georgia GC, home of the University of Georgia<\/a> Bulldogs men’s and women’s golf teams and the 2013 Women’s NCAA National Championship, proved a challenging course for day one of this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 23 players from the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bell Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by three of the top 550 players nationally. After round one, Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) leads the field by one stroke with a score of 73. Not far behind Mitsunaga is Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) at two over par with a score of 74 and Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) at 11 over par with a score of 83.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Futures Division field features 9 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 40 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists. After round one, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) and Carley Cox (China Grove, NC 2015) are tied for first with scores of 88. Not far behind the leaders is Ayanna Habeel (Decatur, GA 2019) and Mckenzie Hedrick (Bishop, GA 2015) tied with scores of 89.<\/span><\/p>\n

Weather on Sunday looks sunny with temperatures in the mid 50s. It should be an exciting end to the first tournament of the 2013 PKB season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
