{"id":2304,"date":"2012-02-05T14:24:56","date_gmt":"2012-02-05T14:24:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tygf.org\/blog\/?p=2304"},"modified":"2012-11-05T16:35:13","modified_gmt":"2012-11-05T16:35:13","slug":"world-of-golf-pkb-expereince-highlights-day-1-pine-needles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/world-of-golf-pkb-expereince-highlights-day-1-pine-needles\/","title":{"rendered":"World of Golf Expereince highlights Day 1 @ Pine Needles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/pkb_logo.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"357\" height=\"78\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/images\/courses\/pineneedles.gif\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"20\" vspace=\"20\" align=\"right\" \/>Day 1 is\u00a0in the books of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pkb.shotstat.com\/Tour\/TournamentDetail.aspx?Show=P&amp;TID=355\">Peggy Kirk Bell Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles Lodge &amp; GC<\/a> and featured an exciting round of golf followed by the &#8220;World of Golf Roundtable&#8221; for players and parents.\u00a0 Featured speakers included LPGA Major Champion Donna Andrews, Precision Golf School Director of Instruction Robert Linville and Carolinas PGA Junior Golf Leader Chris Haarlow, and the PKBGT staff talking about their experiences in golf and preparing junior golfers for the next level.\u00a0 We thank the speakers for their time and all those who attended!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the course, North Carolina&#8217;s number 1 ranked player Sarah Bae (2013, Raleigh, NC) clings to a one shot lead after firing an even par 71 on day 1.\u00a0 A crowded leader board follows, with Pennsylvania&#8217;s 2nd ranked Marissa DeCola (2012, Butler, PA) and Madison Moosa (2017, Charlotte, NC) one shot back.\u00a0 An additional 8 players are within 5 of the lead. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This year&#8217;s<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> tournament champion will automatically qualify for the year-end Tour Championship in September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Futures Division,\u00a0Gina Kim (2018, Chapel Hill, NC) stakes hold to a commanding 7 shot lead following a one-under par 70 performance.\u00a0 Defending champion Jennifer Chang (2018, Cary, NC) stands in second place with a 77, followed by Grace Massengail (2016, Hickory, NC) at 78 and PKBGT Kick-Off Classic champion Amy Wooten (2018, Clinton, NC) at 79.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pine Needles is the 2nd stop of the 2012 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a>. A favorite tour stop for the girl&#8217;s, Pine Needles is owned by the tours Honorary Chairwoman Peggy Kirk Bell and has hosted 3 United States Women&#8217;s Open Championships. The event features a full field of 84 players from the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> is an initiative of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tygf.org\">Triad Youth Golf Foundation<\/a>, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
