(Jan. 3, 2026) \u2014 <\/strong><em>The <a href=\"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> takes on Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club from January 17-19, 2026, for the ninth annual Linville Cup Team Challenge and Leadership Retreat.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Linville Cup is a weekend of team golf and leadership seminars designed to reward the top players of the 2025 PKBGT in each region. The retreat builds on our motto of \u201cmore than a golf tournament\u201d by bringing together members who have excelled in the past year to Pinehurst, the home of American golf, and Pine Needles\/Mid Pines GC, the home of our tour namesake.<\/p>\n<p>Mentorship is a major component of the Linville Cup, with multiple opportunities for players to interact with the coaches and staff. We hope that players will take away many life lessons, a stronger sense of confidence, and friendships to build their golfing careers.<\/p>\n<p>Our coaches are ex-collegiate golfers as well as women business leaders who will share their experiences with the girls. While there, she earned an Honorable Mention All-American in 1985 (first-ever female Ivy League golfer named to an All American team). Post college, she played on the LPGA Futures Tour (now Symetra) from 1985-1988, finishing 18th on the money list in 1987. From 1992-2006 she served as the Head Women&#8217;s Golf Coach at Tulane University (New Orleans, La.), and then served on the Tulane University Athletic Department executive team from 2006-2016 after the women&#8217;s golf program was disbanded following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast. During her time at UNC, she played all four years on the Women&#8217;s Golf Team, interned in the NIL department, and served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Riley also won the 2024 Women&#8217;s Golf Association of Philadelphia&#8217;s Amateur event. Her journey at the University of North Carolina began as a promising recruit from Antwerp, Belgium. She represented the Tar Heels on the UNC Women\u2019s Golf Team from 2013 to 2017, leading the team in scoring averages for three consecutive years, while completing her undergraduate studies at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. Cloots is a player and competitor at her core, playing professionally from 2017 through 2023 on the LPGA Epson Tour and Ladies European Tour. Her focus is now on coaching, but you can still find her playing professionally at select events in the U.S. and Europe. During her time at UNCW, she was awarded the CAA Commissioner&#8217;s Academic Award each year and earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors her freshman year. Kayla graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Communications, and then pursued a career on the Epson Tour from 2019-2024. She currently works as a realtor while continuing to pursue her lifelong dream of playing professional golf. After spending eight years as a Sports Information Director at N.C. State University for several different sports, she now manages the publicity of Team USA players and their identification process for national teams. She has volunteered and captained teams for leadership programs while taking leadership classes that have equipped her to support others in living the life they envision. Since May 2016, she has worked as a Tournament Administrator for the Carolinas Golf Association, handling pre-tournament administration for all junior championships, Ladies Four-Ball Play Days, and TYGA (Tarheel Youth Golf Association) events. Her extensive experience in the golf industry includes a P.J. Boatwright internship with the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association, volunteering with the Dorchester Dragons Special Olympics golf program and Swing Thought Tour, and working in golf shops at River Falls Plantation and Black Bear Golf Course. She coached Team USA alongside Robert Linville to victory over Japan in 2003 in Temecula, CA, and currently mentors young golfers with a passion for developing the next generation. She volunteers as a rules official for the Carolinas Golf Association and served the USGA as Leaderboards committee chair for the 2019 US Senior Women&#8217;s Open and the 2022 US Women&#8217;s Open in Pinehurst. Charlene has been a coach since the inaugural Linville Cup, bringing her extensive banking experience and deep knowledge of golf rules to mentor the next generation of young golfers. A 3-time PKBGT Champion and East Carolina University alumna, Katie played collegiately for the Pirates from 2011-2015 and was selected as the 2015 Dinah Shore Trophy recipient by the LPGA Foundation. Robert is the owner\/founder of Robert Linville\u2019s Precision Golf School and co-founder of the PKBGT\u2019s parent foundation, the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, now known as Girls Golf of America. A PGA member for over 30 years, Robert has a passion for developing players and has taught some of the top players to come out of North Carolina in the last 20 years, including current LPGA player and PKBGT Alumna Katherine Perry. Robert\u2019s passion and energy for developing equity for girls in golf are why the PKBGT has grown to where it is today.<\/p>\n<p><b>About the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour is an initiative of Girls Golf of America, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
