Waynesboro, VA-\u00a0<\/b>The\u00a0Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> traveled back to Orchard Creek Golf Club<\/a> in Waynesboro, VA for the second-ever\u00a0 Kandi Comer Girls Classic presented by River City Collective. Orchard Creek Golf Club, set below the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains, is home to one of the most respected teaching professionals on the East Coast. River City Collective and the PKBGT are proud to name this special event in honor of Kandi Comer, PGA.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/h2>\n

Two Virginia natives take the day one lead at the Kandi Comer Girls Classic. Elsie MacCleery<\/strong> (Crozet, VA 2025) made the highest number of birdies today with 4. MacCleery tied with Amber Mackiewicz <\/strong>(Virginia Beach, VA 2023) for first with 76 (+4). Joining MacCleery and Mackiewicz in the final pairing is senior Gabbie Hollberg<\/strong> (Moseley, VA 2022) at 78 (+6). On another amazing note, Mckenzie Weddle<\/strong> scored the only eagle today!<\/p>\n

A local takes the lead in the Futures National division at Orchard Creek Golf Course. Kennedy MacCleery<\/strong> (Crozet, VA 2027) fired an opening-round 72 (E) to lead by four over Addison Ritter<\/strong> (Crozet, VA 2025). Joining MacCleery and Ritter will be Lily Hollberg <\/strong>(Moseley, VA 2025), who is currently tied for third at 81 (+9) with\u00a0Danielle Kenny<\/strong> (Glen Allen, VA 2024). Both MacCleery and Hollberg hold the same position as their older sisters who are in the Bell division!<\/p>\n

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.\u00a0 The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
