Clemson, SC-<\/strong> The\u00a0Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> headed back to the Palmetto State for the annual Orange Whip Classic at Clemson University. The Walker Course at Clemson, named a top ten university golf course nearly every year since the course opened, welcomed participants from the Bell, Prep, and Futures divisions. A tour record of 15 states are in the field, and nine players have committed or signed to compete at the next level.<\/i><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/h2>\n

The Orange Whip Classic saw the most players finish under par since the 2020 PKBGT Invitational at Bermuda Run. Five participants finished in the red numbers included the overnight leader, Morgan Ketchum<\/strong> (Winston-Salem, NC 2022). Ketchum, champion of the PKB Jr, carded five birdies on Saturday, including back-to-back birds on the fifteenth and sixteenth, to finish round one at 68 (-4). Before Ketchum’s final putt falling on the eighteenth, the Lee University commit Kyndal Shamblin<\/strong> (Cleveland, TN 2022) held the lead at (-3). Nicole Nash<\/strong> (Charlotte, NC 2023), Melanie Walker\u00a0<\/strong>(Burke, VA 2022), and Isabella van der Biest<\/strong> (Kingsport, TN 2021) tied at (-1). Joining Shamblin and the leader in the final pairing will be Nicole Nash.<\/p>\n

Prep Preview<\/h2>\n

Trying to get the bad taste out of her mouth from the playoff loss at the ROCKET TOUR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, Emerson Dever<\/strong> (Durham, NC 2025) is in a favorable position going into the final round of the Orange Whip Classic after opening the tournament with a (-2) round of 70. Dever made four birdies on the day, two on both sides. Sitting two shots behind Dever is the Roanoke native Caroline Gilreath<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2023) after her round of 72. Maddie Peake<\/strong> (Pauline, SC 2023) and Shyla Brown<\/strong> (Matthews, NC 2026) round out the top three after rounds of 74 (+2). Peake will join Gilreath and Dever in the final group tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Alicia Fang<\/strong> (Waxhaw, NC 2026) joins Ketchum and Dever as the Orange Whip Classic’s overnight leaders at the Walker Course at Clemson. Fang finished round one at (+2), going out at (-1) and coming home in 39 (+3). Fang carded three birdies on her front nine. She, like the rest of the Futures field, began on the back-nine. Sitting in the two spot is Mia Andrade<\/strong> (Chapin, SC 2025) at (+4). Joining Alicia and Mia in the final group will be Bethany Welch<\/strong> (Matthews, NC 2025).<\/p>\n
