Southern Pines, NC- <\/strong>The\u00a0Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> concluded play at the home of our namesake and the host of four US Women\u2019s Opens for the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior Girls. Due to a large application pool, a second site was added to host a secondary Futures National field. The PKB Junior II was contested at Southern Pines Golf Club, a Pine Needles Donald Ross property. For the first time in the 2020 season, four champions were crowned at an event.<\/i><\/p>\n

Bell National\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fresh off a top ten finish at the PKBGT National Tournament of Champions, Morgan Ketchum<\/strong> (Winston-Salem, NC 2022) finally found the victory promised land in her 43rd event on the PKB Girls Tour (Ketchum was low medalist in the Vicki DiSantis CGA qualifier back in 2018). Ketchum began the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Junior at Pine Needles at event par with four birdies, two on each side to take a two-shot overnight lead over the reigning National Tournament of Champions medalist Sydney Yermish<\/strong> (Wynnewood, PA 2023).<\/p>\n

Morgan followed on Tuesday with a (+4) round of 76 to walk away with the title. A trio finished seven strokes off of Ketchum that included Ellen Yu<\/strong> (Greensboro, NC 2026), Sydney Yermish<\/strong> (Wynnewood, PA 2023) and Grace Lu<\/strong> (Edison, NJ 2022) with Yu taking home the runner-up position in the scorecard playoff. Morgan moved up to second place in the PKBGT Order of Merit standings with the victory.<\/p>\n

Prep Preview<\/b><\/p>\n

Following in Morgan Ketchum’s footsteps, Kate Dann<\/strong> (Charlotte, NC 2023) gave herself a nice Christmas holiday as she captured her first PKBGT title at the home of Ms. Bell. Kate’s game has been trending in the right direction since we kicked off the PKBGT ’20-’21 wraparound schedule when Dann claimed third in the Futures National division. Since Stone Mountain, Kate finished fifth at Green Valley Country Club in the Prep, and ninth at River Landing in the Bell division. Kate opened round one at eight-over par. Dann followed on Tuesday with a round of 79 (+7) en route to a one-shot victory over Megan Morris<\/strong> (Cary, NC 2021), the Rhodes College golf commit, and four ahead of the overnight leader Emerson Dever<\/strong> (Durham, NC 2025) and Macy Johnson<\/strong> (Salem, VA 2023).<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/b><\/p>\n

Chasing the leader after day one was Annalee Caveney<\/strong> (Raleigh, NC 2024) after her round of 77 (+5). She began the final round two off Kanchana Duangsam<\/strong> (Haymarket, VA 2026), the overnight leader. In the final round, Annalee birdied holes six, nine, and sixteen. After nine holes, Caveney reduced Duangsam’s lead to just a shot. A triple by the leader turned the tables in favor of the Tarheel native. After the tenth hole, Caveney never looked back winning by three shots. Caveney’s best finish before the PKB Junior was two runner-up finishes in the NC Regional Series.<\/p>\n

After a brief frost delay on day one, two sat atop the leaderboard at Southern Pines Golf Club. Alexa Prettyman<\/strong>\u00a0(Plain City, OH 2025) and\u00a0Emily Rosenchein<\/strong> (Concord, NC 2024) held a three-shot lead after their rounds of 83 (+12).\u00a0 Alexa and Emily both carded two birdies on Monday. Joining Prettyman and Rosenchein in the final pairing on Tuesday was Alexandra Kennedy<\/strong> (Arden, NC 2026) at 86 (+15).<\/p>\n

Alexa Prettyman<\/strong> (Plain City, OH 2025) ran away from her co-leader on their front nine with a seven-shot swing between Prettyman and Emily Rosenchein<\/strong> (Concord, NC 2024). Once Prettyman made her final putt on the eighteenth, she closed the deal with a five-shot win. Making the biggest move on the final day was Emma Mae Stover<\/strong> (Hendersonville, NC 2026) who shot ten shots better on day two. A final round 82 snagged Stover the runner up spot for the tournament.<\/p>\n

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour returns to action after the New Year at the Disney Girls Classic.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.\u00a0 The Tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the Tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
