Southern Pines, NC-<\/b>The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour concluded the final event of the wraparound 2019-2020 season this afternoon at the Tour Championship. Pine Needles, voted annually as one of the top tracks in the Carolina’s, has been privileged to host three USGA Women’s Opens, including the upcoming 2022 US Women’s Open. Besides crowning the final major champions of the season, the Bell National and Futures National Order of Merit winners were also forever etched into the PKBGT history books. The second round from both of our leaders made things interesting, heading into the final round. But, both champions ran away from the field on a misty Sunday morning.<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

The number one ranked Junior Golf Scoreboard player in the country captured her maiden victory in her first start on the PKB circuit. Hyo Joon Jang<\/strong> (Bluffton, SC 2022) led wire-to-wire in the final event of the 2020 wrap around season. Jang was the lone competitor to finish under par over fifty-four holes. Joon opened up play with a round of 68 (-4), that included six birds on the card. The G2 Academy student struggled on a much tougher day two shooting a (+3) 75, making things just a bit more interesting for the final day of play. Joon Jang ended that thought almost immediately thanks to three birdies on her opening nine and matching her day one score of 68 (-4) to win by eleven strokes. The nearest competitor, Kiera Bartholomew<\/strong> (Wake Forest, NC 2023), ended at (+6) for the event.<\/p>\n

T4. Maria Atwood<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b>(Holly Springs, NC 2022) \/ 77 \/ 73 \/ 75 = 225 (+9)*<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

Madison Messimer<\/strong> (Myrtle Beach, SC 2025) led wire-to-wire to capture her seventh PKBGT title of the wrap around season. It’s important to note that six of her seven wins came in major championship events. Messimer opened Tour Championship at even-par. She followed in round two with a score of 74 (+2). Messimer’s putter had to be doused with water after her hot final round that included EIGHT birdies and a final round score of 71 (-1). Of the fifty-four holes played, the Myrtle Beach, SC native birdied 14 of the 54 holes. She avered at least one birdie every four holes. Finishing runner up was Emerson Dever<\/strong> (Durham, NC 2025) at (+9), eight shots off Messimer’s total.<\/p>\n

T4. Fannie Sukhumparnich<\/strong> (Bethesda, MD 2024) \/ 77 \/ 80 \/ 73 = 230 (+14)*<\/p>\n

T4. Shyla Brown<\/strong> (Matthews, NC 2026) \/ 80 \/ 74\u00a0 \/ 76 = 230 (+14)<\/p>\n

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour concluded the 2019-2020 National Series schedule and will begin play of the 2020-2021 season in a few short weeks at the Atlanta Girls Classic.<\/p>\n

About the PKBGT<\/h2>\n

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.\u00a0 The Tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls.
