Clemson, SC-<\/b>The\u00a0Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour<\/a> concluded play at the 2020 Orange Whip Classic at the Walker Course at Clemson University. Initially scheduled for the first weekend of February, flooding and snow canceled the event. Now, just a week before the 2o2o Tour Championship, ten states will represent the field at the home practice facility for the Clemson University PGM program and Clemson Women’s Golf. Scoring conditions were ideal, and a bunched leaderboard provided a showdown in Tiger Town!<\/em><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a brief pause due to lightning in the area, three were tied atop the leaderboard in the Bell National division. Ella York<\/strong> (Johns Creek, GA 2024), Maya Beasley<\/strong> (Croton on Hudson, NY 2023), and Sydney Roberts<\/strong> (Chesnee, SC 2022) concluded the thirty-six hole event with a two day total of 145 (+1). The trio marched to the first hole to begin the sudden-death playoff. Sydney Roberts made a tremendous up and down to push the playoff onto the second hole. None of the three girls were able to capitalize on their birdie puts on the second, which forced the playoff to its ultimate finale on the short par-four third where the Chesnee, SC native capitalized and walked off the green with her first PKBGT title. Finishing three off the leaders was last year’s champion Kimberly Shen<\/strong> (Johns Creek, GA 2022).<\/p>\n

1. Sydney Roberts<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b>(Chesnee, SC 2022) \/ 74 \/ 71 = 145 (+1)*<\/p>\n

2. Maya Beasley<\/strong> (Croton on Hudson, NY 2023) \/ 75 \/ 70 = 145 (+1)^<\/p>\n

3. Ella York<\/strong> (Johns Creek, GA 2024) \/ 73 \/ 72 = 145 (+1)<\/p>\n

4. Kimberly Shen<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b>(Johns Creek, GA 2022) \/ 73 \/ 75 = 148 (+4)<\/p>\n

5. Katherine Cook<\/strong> (Thomasville, GA 2022) \/ 76 \/ 73 = 149 (+5)<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just one round was recorded under par in the Futures National division, and it came from the eventual champion Grace Addison<\/strong> (Abingdon, VA 2023). Addison fired a round of 71 (-) on Sunday to come from behind and capture the title at the Orange Whip Classic. The highlight of Grace’s two rounds came at the par-five fifth that she eagled on Saturday. During the final round, the Abingdon, VA native carded two birdies on her back-nine en route to the victory. Rounding out the top three were Maddie Peake<\/strong> (Pauline, SC 2023) and Caroline Hawkins<\/strong> (Columbia, SC 2026), who won in a scorecard playoff.<\/p>\n
