Palmyra, VA-<\/strong> The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf concluded play at the Commonwealth Classic at Lake Monticello Golf Club in Palmyra, Virginia. The field included four players ranked inside the Top-10 in the PKBGT National Order of Merit rankings, including Kathryn Ha<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2025) at #2 in the Futures National standings. The hottest player on the circuit continued her winning streak to five in a row, and a come from behind victory in the Bell National division were the headlines of the tournament.<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elizabeth Tucci<\/strong> (New Market, MD 2022) began the final round two shots away from the leader Isabel Bae<\/strong> (Bristow, VA 2021). By the end of the front nine, Tucci had taken the lead thanks to her outward nine score of 34 (-2) that included three birdies. The New Market native followed on the back with two more birds, including one on the final hole to seal the deal for her first PKBGT National title. After her round, Elizabeth said her ball-striking was the key to her success for her final round 71 (-1). “My ball-striking kept me from really getting into trouble around the greens.” Tucci, who has a quick turnaround as she’ll be competing next weekend at Musket Ridge, says, “this win gives me so much confidence going into July and beyond.” The PA native, Victoria Kim<\/strong> (West Chester, PA 2022), finished a shot away from Tucci at (+2) for the tournament.<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

After day one, two were tied atop the Futures National leaderboard. Kathryn Ha<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2025) and Elsie MacCleery<\/strong> (Crozet, VA 2025), opening the tournament at 71 (-1). Ha, the hottest player on tour, followed her day one score with a final round 70 (-2) finishing the Commonwealth Classic at (-3) to capture her fifth victory in a row! When asked about her current win streak, she humbly responded, “it’s an honor to win any event run by the PKB Girls Tour.” Kathryn’s game has shown no sign of weakness since June, and Ha praises her course preparation for her recent successes. Lake Monticello, like many of the clubs we’ve been at, requires you to hit in the appropriate spots, thankfully I’m not missing my spots”.\u00a0 The runner-up Elsie MacCleery (Crozet, VA 2025) finished in the red at (-1) for the tournament after her final-round score of even-par (72).<\/p>\n
