Sanford, NC-<\/strong>After a brief weekend break to celebrate our nation\u2019s freedom, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour resumes play at a Robert Trent Jones Sr. gem for the Carolina\u2019s Classic at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, North Carolina. The 43 tournament participants will compete on the Lakes course for both days of the event. The highest performing PKB Performance Index player in each division head into the final round with the lead.<\/i><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

A volunteer takes the day one lead after firing the lone round under par at the Trace. Kara Carter<\/strong> (Kingsport, TN 2021) heads into tomorrow’s final round with a three-shot lead after her four birdies in round one. The Xavier University women’s golf commit concluded with a round of 70 (-2). Kara has played very well at the Lakes Course, finishing tied for second back in 2018. Carter’s last victory on the PKB Girls Tour circuit came in 2018 at Columbia Country Club. The Lydic sisters hope to catch Carter in tomorrow’s round but will need to make up three shots before the final drops on the 18th hole. Sarah Lydic<\/strong> (Ocean View, DE 2022) and Hannah Lydic<\/strong> (Ocean View, DE 2024) both shot (+1) rounds of 73.<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the hottest players in the past two months on the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour continued her stellar play at the Trace, taking the Futures National overnight lead of three heading into tomorrow’s final round. Kathryn Ha<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2025) started hot birdieing four holes on her outward nine and added one more on the back to shoot a round of 69 (-3) on the Lakes Course. In Kathryn’s last eight rounds of golf, she has gone under par three of those times, including another 69 (-3) at Hidden Valley CC. Ha is searching for her fifth Futures National title on the season. Katherine Brictson<\/strong> (Raleigh, NC 2025) is the nearest competitor to Ha after an opening-round 72 (E).\u00a0 Another Raleigh native, Garland Gould<\/strong> (Raleigh, NC 2024), sits at third after her opening round 74 (+2).<\/p>\n
