Upper Marlboro, MD-<\/strong> The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour concluded play at the first-ever HJ Glove Girls Championship at Lake Presidential Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, MD. HJ Glove, the official golf glove provider for the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour, was proud to host some of the Middle Atlantic’s best for the first-ever HJ Glove Girls Championship and crown two new major champions for the 2020 season. A second look around Lake Presidential proved to be worthwhile as both divisions saw a significant drop in tournament scoring average from the first day to the final round, including a round in the 60’s.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

A hot start during the final round ended the streak of Middle Atlantic champions in the National PKBGT series. Liza Lapeyre<\/strong> (New Orleans, LA 2022) lit up Lake Presidential on Friday morning with five total birdies en route to a 69 (-3) to capture the maiden HJ Girls Championship. Liza posted rounds of 75 (+3), 69 (-3) to win the event by two strokes over day one leader Bailey Davis<\/strong> (White Plains, MD 2021), and Melanie Walker<\/strong> (Burke, VA 2022). During the final round, Liza was three-under on her front nine and followed with a cool thirty-six on the back. Lapeyre credits the flat stick and her confidence in the long ball to keep the top of the leaderboard within reach during today’s final round. Liza’s last victory on the PKBGT circuit was in 2018 at the PKBGT Masters presented by Aunt Ruby’s peanuts in the Futures National division.<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the third straight National event, the Futures National champion led wire-to-wire. Kathryn Ha<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2025) has dominated the PKBGT national events in the 2020 calendar, capturing her third Futures National event of the year, her second in June, and her first-ever PKBGT major championship. Ha carded three birdies en route to a final round of 73 (+1). The nearest competitor was an astounding fourteen shots away from the Roanoke, VA native. In Kathryn’s last four starts on the PKBGT circuit, she has two victories, a second and a fourth. Ha began the HJ Glove Girls Championship with an opening-round 70 (-2) making her overnight lead nine shots over Kanchana Duangsam<\/strong> (Haymarket, VA 2026). Duangsam finished the tournament with a two day total of (+13).<\/p>\n
