Salem, VA-<\/strong> The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour concluded play at the Valley Junior Girls Classic in partnership with the Valley Junior Girls Scholarship fund at Hidden Valley Country Club. HVCC sits alongside the rolling hills of southwest Virginia and provided breathtaking views from the first tee to the last putt over the past two days for this regionally dominated field. At the end of the day, two Mid-Atlantic tour players continued the dominance that we have seen from the residents of Virginia and Maryland in our National Series events.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bell National<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three players from the Middle Atlantic region sat atop the leaderboard after the conclusion of round one. Just one remained after today’s round. Overnight leaders Melissa Meng<\/strong> (Blacksburg, VA 2020), and Alyssa Wang<\/strong> (Rockville, MD 2021) began the day tied with Danielle Suh<\/strong> (Herndon, VA 2020).<\/p>\n

However, The Herndon, VA senior fired the lone round under par in the Bell National division to walk away with the title. Suh’s final eighteen holes included three birdies and an eagle to finish day two at 70 (-2), and 143 (-1) for the tournament. This is Danielle’s first win of her 2020 season, and also her last PKBGT event she will play before her career begins with the High Point University Women’s Golf program later this fall.<\/p>\n

4. Melissa Meng (Blacksburg, VA 2020) \/ 73 \/ 77 = 150 (+6)<\/p>\n

5. Sara Lydic (Ocean View, DE 2024) \/ 74 \/ 78 = 152 (+8)<\/p>\n

Futures National<\/strong><\/p>\n

The local talent Kathryn Ha<\/strong> (Roanoke, VA 2025) led wire-to-wire to capture her second Futures National title of the season, as well as snagging her seventh consecutive top 5 finish. Ha closed the final round with five birdies. Kathryn faltered right out of the gate, bogeying her first hole. But, Ha laughed it off. The Roanoke native followed with four birdies to go out in 32 (-3). Ha was not the only Futures National player firing career bests, Leah Edwards<\/strong> (Greensboro, NC 2025) shot a career-low round of 73 (+1) to slide into the runner-up position.<\/p>\n
