Bartholomew ended the 36 holes tied with Amber Mackiewicz (Virginia Beach, VA 2023), who followed up her round 1 score of 71 (-1) with an identical score of 71 thanks to 4 birdies including three on the back nine. What happened next surprised both Kiera, Amber, and the PKBGT staff. Due to the Futures National still playing on the back-nine, the sudden death playoff had to occur on the par-3 tenth hole. Eventually, after eleven consecutive ties on the tenth hole, the two headed to the eleventh and tied there as well. On the twelfth hole, the thirteenth playoff hole, Amber Mackiewicz, lagged her birdie putt next to the cup and finished with a par to capture her maiden PKBGT title! Messimer’s round of 73 (+1) tied for the low round of the day with the runner-up finisher Emerson B. Dever (Durham, NC 2025).
