Salisbury, NC<\/strong>–<\/span>On Monday, May 24 the <\/span>Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour<\/a> began the first round of the 2020 PKBGT Open Championship at the Country Club of Salisbury for the Prep Preview and Futures National divisions. Over an inch of rain accumulated overnight which closed the majority of the back-nine for the second time this weekend. Rerouting of the first four holes for the Prep was used to complete the round & the first four holes on the backside for the Futures National division.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prep Preview<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Leading the Prep Preview field is Grace Ridenour\u00a0<\/strong>(Cary, NC 2025), after an opening round of 72 (+1). The leader in the Prep Preview Order of Merit standings carded four birdies in her opening round on the par 71 layout. Grace’s last three PKBGT events resulted in a top 3 finish. The Cary, NC native is searching for her maiden Prep Preview victory in her 2020 campaign. She heads into the final round with a three-stroke lead over Hannah Altman<\/strong> (Lake City, SC 2022).<\/p>\n

    Futures National<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Leading the Prep Preview field is Kathryn Ha\u00a0<\/strong>(Roanoke, VA 2025), after an opening round of 75 (+4). In order to perform well on any classic Donald Ross design, you must play the par threes around par. Kathryn did just that in today’s first round. The Roanoke, VA already holds two titles and a handful of top 3 finishes in the 2020 campaign. She heads into the final round with a one-stroke lead over Kanchana Duangsam<\/strong> (Haymarket, VA 2026).<\/p>\n
