PKB Girls Golf Tour Opens Fall Preview in Richmond <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Anderson takes home Hunting Hawk Classic Title!<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Glen Allen, VA \u2013 The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour opened up its first fall preview this weekend at Hunting Hawk GC. <\/span><\/p>\n

After coming off a sizzling first round 66, <\/span>golfing phenom, Lyberty Anderson, of Chesterfield, Virginia posted hung strong to take home her second PKB Title of the <\/span>year (66-74\u2014140).<\/span><\/p>\n

However, after starting the day seven shots ahead of field, Anderson\u2019s lead had dwindled to only two by the fifteenth hole. Nonetheless, she stayed collected down the stretch an capture a three shot victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an extraordinary first round and I thought if I shot around even today I would be in good position to win the tournament, stated Anderson after the win. Karishma made a great charge today (referring to second place finisher Karishma Thiagaraj of Hay Market, Virginia) and certainly caught my attention when she started making birdies on the start of the back nine. I was glad I kept my composure and finished with consistent play to win in my home town. \u201c <\/span><\/p>\n

Anderson finished the tournament at 1 under par followed by Karishma at 1 over (73-70\u2014143). Following the two were Emily Brooks of Chapel Hill, NC at 76-71–147, Bryana Nguyen of Columbia, MD 73-75-148. Alex Wright of Midlothian, VA at 75-77–154, and Jessica Merrill of Reston, Va 79-75\u2014154. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another notable was Alex Wright\u2019s fifth place finish in the event earning her an invite into the prestigious PKB Invitational in November. <\/span><\/p>\n

The PKB Girls Golf Tour will head to Winston \u2013 Salem, NC this weekend for the Reynolds Park Open.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anderson fires career low 5 under 66!<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Glen Allen, VA \u2013 The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour opened up its first fall preview event today at Hunting Hawk GC. <\/span><\/p>\n

The courses only defense was a white flag after young golfing phenom, Lyberty Anderson, of Chesterfield, Virginia posted a 5 under 66!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI hit the ball great today and had a ton of ten foot birdie putts. I only converted a few of them but it was enough to give me my lowest tournament score ever, stated Anderson after her round. So that\u2019s pretty awesome!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The round was awesome indeed as Anderson proved she was ready to move forward after missing a golden opportunity to capture the 2010 PKB Order of Merit in the PKB\u2019s last major at Bryan Park GC last month. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s performance included 16 greens, 8 birdies, and only one blemish. Her back to back nines of 33 made quite a first round impression as she looks to capture her first PKB Title of the Fall Preview season. <\/span><\/p>\n

Her 66 puts her seven shots clear of the field going into tomorrow\u2019s round, but the talent behind her is still certainly in her rear view as it includes the likes of Bryana Nguyen of Columbia, MD at 73, Karishma Thiagaraj of Hay Market, VA at 73, and Alex Wright of Midlothian, Va and Khushboo Thiagaraj of Hay Market, VA at 75. <\/span><\/p>\n
