Athens, GA<\/strong>–<\/span>On Saturday, February,15th the <\/span>Peggy Kirk Bell Girl’s Golf Tour<\/a> began the eighth playing of the Rocket Tour Players Championship, and the sixth at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The torrential rain showers throughout the southeast over the past two weeks softened the difficult green complexes that awaited the competitors over the span of the two rounds of play. Awaiting the Bell National, Prep Preview and Futures National champions on Sunday is an automatic qualification into the Peggy Kirk Bell Tournament of Champions contested annually at the end of the year along with putting their names alongside an elite list of past champions including Skylar Thompson, current Ohio State women’s golf team member, and Louise Yu, current Vanderbilt women’s golf team member to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bell National<\/h2>\n

Leading the Bell National field is Allie Kantor<\/strong> (Milton, GA 2021) after posting a (+1) round of 73. The Georgia native carded five birdies in her opening round and holds a one-stroke overnight lead. This is Kantor’s first PKBGT event of the 2020 calendar year. In her last start, Allie finished tied for third at Georgia Southern back in early December.<\/p>\n

    Prep Preview<\/h2>\n

    Leading the Prep Preview field is Hailey Han<\/strong> (Duluth, GA 2025) after a steady even-par round of seventy-two (E). Han dominated on the difficult back-side shooting a red hot (-2) 35 on the backside (her front-nine) to surge into the lead as the rest of the field struggled out of the gate. Hailey carded four birdies in her opening round and heads into the overnight with a nine-stroke lead on the field.<\/p>\n

      Futures National<\/h2>\n

      Leading the Futures National field is Gracie Song<\/strong> (Waxhaw, NC 2026) and\u00a0Emerson Dever\u00a0<\/strong>(Durham, NC 2025)\u00a0 after posting (+4) rounds of 76. Song and Dever both started on the back-nine at UGA. The Waxhaw native held a narrow lead after the first nine holes thanks to back-to-back birdies by Gracie on holes 16 and 17. A cleaner back-nine (front-nine) by Emerson Dever brought that lead back to all square as the two knocked their final putts into the hole on the ninth green. The Tarheel friends hold a three-stroke overnight lead.<\/p>\n
