On a breezy Saturday, January 11, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girl’s Golf Tour played the first round of the Kiawah Resorts Girls Classic at Oak Point with an automatic qualifier spot to the PKB Tournament of Champions on the line.<\/p>\n

The event featured 12 players from the Bell National division and 15 from the Futures National division.<\/p>\n

Bell National<\/h2>\n

Leading the Bell National field is Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021), after posting a round of 73 (+1).<\/p>\n

Holcomb’s round started hot with a quick birdie on the first hole out of the gate. Consecutive bogeys on holes three and four stalled the momentum. The Wilmington, NC native, made a key up and down on the challenging wind par three number 9 to make the turn at +1. Holcomb’s back nine consisted of seven pars, a birdie and one bogey on the last hole. She heads into tomorrow’s final round with a four shot lead over Mary Kathryn Talledo (Spartanburg, SC 2021).<\/p>\n

    Futures National<\/h2>\n

    Leading the Futures National field is Gracie Song (Waxhaw, NC 2026) after poster a round of 70. Song posted 4 birdies en route to her first round score of 2 under par.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Gracie Song once again finds herself in contention at a PKB event. The Waxhaw, NC native, stalled out of the gate, bogeying both her first and fifth holes, before calming down on the scorable par-three seventh where she birdied. Song went on a tear throughout her back-nine circling numbers on holes thirteen, fifteen, and seventeen to fire a flawless 33 (-3) back-nine score. She heads into tomorrow’s final round with a six-shot lead over Madison Messimer.<\/p>\n
