{"id":11101,"date":"2019-09-08T23:23:03","date_gmt":"2019-09-08T23:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=11101"},"modified":"2019-09-26T18:11:26","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T18:11:26","slug":"19event93_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/19event93_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: Kentucky Regional Series at Kearney Hill Golf Links"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Sunday, September 8, the 2019 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played the Kentucky Series at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, KY.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/about_series.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The inaugural season of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/schedule.php?TID=16\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky Regional Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in partnership with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kyjrgolf.bluegolf.com\/bluegolf\/kyjrgolf19\/schedule\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky PGA Junior Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, consists of six one-day events concluding with the two-day Series Finale in October.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Futures Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking home her fourth victory of the 2019 PKBGT Kentucky Series, <\/span><b>Madison Borders <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Bardstown, KY 2023) won Sunday\u2019s event with a score of 82. Borders, who sits well at the top of the Futures Kentucky Order of Merit, finished today&#8217;s round with a birdie on the 17th followed by a par on the 18th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Three strokes back in a tie for second place was PKBGT newcomer <strong>Adeline Ganz<\/strong> (Mason, OH 2021) and <strong>Cailyn Rogers<\/strong> (Lexington, KY 2025) with a round of 85. Ganz&#8217; and Roger&#8217;s rounds were highlighted by eight and seven pars, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top five in fourth and fifth place were <strong>Jordan Harris<\/strong> (Frankfort, KY 2021) and <strong>Taylor Sargent<\/strong> (Milton, WV 2023) who posted scores of 87 and 88.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Discovery Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking home her fourth Discovery series title trophy of the 2019 season, <\/span><b>Keira Yun <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Elizabethtown, KY 2027) won Sunday\u2019s event with a score of 41. Yun, a reckoning force on the Discovery Kentucky circuit, made an eagle on the par 5 third hole to win by one shot!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finishing in second place was PKBGT newcomer <strong>Grace Wang<\/strong> (Lexington, NC 2025) who posted a score of 42. Wang, playing in her first PKBGT event at Kearney Hill, made four pars during Sunday&#8217;s round.<\/p>\n<p>Sisters <strong>Haley<\/strong> (Richmond, KY 2026) and <strong>Mackenzie Federspiel<\/strong> (Richmond, KY 2026) finished in third and fourth place, respectively. Haley&#8217;s round of 45 featured a birdie on the third hole and Mackenzie&#8217;s score of 52 included 3 pars.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top five finishing in fifth place was <strong>Mollie Neeley<\/strong> (Richmond, KY 2026) who posted a round of 54.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player\u2019s pace.
