{"id":10762,"date":"2019-07-07T03:32:50","date_gmt":"2019-07-07T03:32:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=10762"},"modified":"2019-07-07T03:32:50","modified_gmt":"2019-07-07T03:32:50","slug":"19event59_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/19event59_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: 2019 PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Saturday, July 6, the 2019 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played the Middle Atlantic Series at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, VA.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/about_series.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Prep Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Hannah Jonely <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Ashburn, VA 2020) and <\/span><b>Josephine Nguyen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Springfield, VA 2024) finished regulation locked in a dead heat with scores of 76 (+4). Due to unsafe weather conditions, the tournament came down to a scorecard playoff where Jonely edged out Nguyen for the win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In third place with a score of 77 (+5) was <\/span><b>Cassie Robinson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Emporia, VA 2019). Robinson made one birdie on her afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Closing out the Prep top finishers was <\/span><b>Amelia Cho <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Ashburn, VA 2024) who shot a score of 78 (+6) on Saturday to earn fourth place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Futures Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a weather-shortened nine-hole round, <\/span><b>Cailyn Park <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Fairfax, VA 2025)<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">earned the Futures division championship with a final score of 36 (+1).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing runner-up was <\/span><b>Amelia Noca <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Fairfax, VA 2020) after shooting a 38 (+3). Noca closed out her round with a birdie on the ninth hole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Vivien Vigliante <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Leesburg, VA 2023) came in third place after finishing her nine-hole round with a score of 40 (+5).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding off the top finishers in the Futures division, in a three-way tie for fourth place were <\/span><b>Nicole Chang <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Midlothian, VA 2021), <\/span><b>Katie Vu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Fairfax Station, VA 2024) and <\/span><b>Barrett Butler <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Bristow, VA 2022). All three players finished with scores of 41 (+6).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leading the way in the Discovery division, <\/span><b>Katie Lee <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Mclean, VA 2026) finished the afternoon with a score of 37 (+2) and the championship trophy!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing runner-up, with a score of 39 (+4), was <\/span><b>Olivia Cho <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Ashburn, VA 2028). Cho made one birdie in her round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Samantha Nguyen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Springfield, VA 2026) and <\/span><b>Adelyn Sweet <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Moseley, VA 2025) rounded out the top finishers at the 2019 PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club! Nguyen finished in third place with a score of 44 (+9) and Sweet finished in fourth place with a score of 46 (+11)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series is back in action on July 27 at Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda, MD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player\u2019s pace.
