On Monday, June 24, the <\/span><\/i>Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour’s<\/span><\/i><\/a> North Carolina Series<\/span><\/i><\/a> competed at <\/span><\/i>Mill Creek Golf Course<\/span><\/i><\/a> in Mebane, North Carolina.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Leading up to Monday\u2019s North Carolina Series event, competitors and spectators geared up for a sweltering afternoon at Mill Creek Golf Course. Just several days prior, many familiar faces closed out their round in a swirling, yet soothing wind at <\/span>Bryan Park Golf Course<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though sunshine was far from absent, the fresh air in Mebane paired with a pleasant breeze kept conditions manageable for an afternoon of golf. The field of 35 members competed in one of three divisions: Prep division at 5,711 yards, Futures division at 5,147 yards and Discovery division at 1,779 yards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span>The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 18 (or 9) riveting holes of competition, let\u2019s take a look at how the leaderboard panned out following Monday\u2019s round!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prep Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Making the short trip west, <\/span>Ella Perna <\/b>(Durham, NC 2022) departed Mebane with a first-place trophy after winning the Prep division title. Perna posted a score of 75 (+3) on the afternoon, dropping a pair of birdies on the front nine. She closed out her round with two additional birdies on the back nine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finishing runner-up, <\/span>Sophie Lauture <\/b>(Raleigh, NC 2024) fell one stroke short of forcing a tiebreaker playoff. Lauture made three birdies in a row from the 12th hole through the 15th hole. She finished Monday\u2019s competition with a final score of 76 (+4).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Challenging both Perna and Lauture throughout the afternoon, <\/span>Chloe Pittman <\/b>(Davidson, NC 2020) finished in third place. Pittman ended her day with a score of 77 (+5) and posted two birdies in her round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the top four, <\/span>Emily Matthews <\/b>(Mebane, NC 2023) posted a score of 78 (+6) at Mill Creek. The hometown showing started off slow, but Matthews regained her form, making two birdies on an even-par back nine. She earned a fourth place finish with her performance on Monday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Future Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Stealing the show at Mill Creek, <\/span>Kinsley Smith <\/b>(Raleigh, NC 2024) rode a 76 (+4) to victory on Monday afternoon. Smith set the pace early with a one-under par front nine which featured two birdies. She added one final birdie on the back nine en route to victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joining the Smith\u2019s party, <\/span>Brooke Smith <\/b>(Morrisville, NC 2022) finished runner-up, two strokes behind Kinsley. Smith dropped three birdies on the afternoon, including two on her front nine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leah Edwards <\/b>(Greensboro, NC 2025) cracked the top finishers for her second tournament in a row. Edwards earned a third place finish after posting a score of 84 (+12).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In fourth place, rounding out the top finishers, was <\/span>Haylie George <\/b>(Cary, NC 2021). George posted a score of 86 (+14) for her round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Discovery Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Her second place finish at Bryan Park now a distant memory, <\/span>Jenna Kim <\/b>(Raleigh, NC 2027) jumped to the top of the leaderboard, taking home the championship in the Discovery division. Kim posted a final score of 37 (+9) in her round at Mill Creek Golf Course. Her peak moment of the day came with a birdie at the seventh hole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Riley Grimm <\/b>(High Point, NC 2028) earned runner-up honors after posting two-over par 38 on the afternoon. Grimm made six straight pars to open her round, riding the hot start to second place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finishing in third place with a score of 39 (+3) was <\/span>Ellie Crichton <\/b>(Cary, NC 2026). Crichton found her stride with a birdie on the fourth hole. Closing out Monday\u2019s top finishers was <\/span>Ellie Acrey <\/b>(Winston-Salem, NC 2026). Acrey was on fire, posting three birdies through her nine holes of competition. She earned fourth-place honors after finishing with a score of 41 (+5).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The PKBGT North Carolina Series is back in action on Saturday at Anderson Creek GC in Spring Lake, North Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/b><\/h2>\n

Regional tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. The goal of Regional Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.<\/span><\/p>\n
