{"id":10697,"date":"2019-06-23T03:04:19","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T03:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=10697"},"modified":"2019-06-23T03:04:19","modified_gmt":"2019-06-23T03:04:19","slug":"19event89_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/19event89_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: 2019 PKBGT Kentucky Series at Battlefield GC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Saturday, June 22, the 2019 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.pkbgt.org\/Tournament\/TournamentDetails?TID=12297\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky Series at Battlefield Golf Club<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Richmond, KY. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/about_series.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The inaugural season of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/schedule.php?TID=16\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky Regional Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in partnership with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kyjrgolf.bluegolf.com\/bluegolf\/kyjrgolf19\/schedule\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky PGA Junior Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, consists of six one-day events concluding with the two-day Series Finale in October. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Futures Division <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing home the championship trophy in the Futures division was <\/span><b>Madison Borders <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Bardstown, KY 2023). Borders posted a score of 77 (+5) on the afternoon. She made two birdies in three holes to close out her front nine and open the back. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Hannah Curreri<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Winchester, KY 2020) finished runner-up after finishing with a 79 (+7) on Saturday. Curreri finished with three birdies on the afternoon including back-to-back birdies to open her back nine. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing the tournament in third place, <\/span><b>Taylor Sargent <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Milton, WV 2023) posted a score of 82 (+10) in Richmond. Rounding out the top five, in a two-way tie for fourth place were <\/span><b>Kasey Cameron <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Richmond, KY 2024) and <\/span><b>Gabrielle Blankenship <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Inez, KY 2020). Both girls finished with rounds of 87 (+15) on the afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earning the Discovery division victory in Richmond was <\/span><b>Keira Yun <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Elizabethtown, KY 2027). Yun posted a score of 41 (+5) on Saturday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rebekah Hyatt <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Frankfort, KY 2027) finished in second place after posting a score of 68 (+32). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Kentucky Series is back in action on July 6 at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.pkbgt.org\/Tournament\/TournamentDetails?TID=12298\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Polo Fields G&amp;CC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Louisville, KY. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player\u2019s pace.
